How to cancel HBO Max using its website
If you signed up for HBO Max through your browser with your card details, canceling it is pretty straightforward. Here are the steps to follow:
- Sign up for HBO Max in your browser
- Click on your profile at the top right
- Go to “Billing Information”, then “Manage Subscription”.
- Follow the steps to cancel your account
If you get a seven-day free trial, you’ll still get your full weeks of HBO Max, even if you cancel as soon as you sign up. If you have already paid for your month, you will still have access until the next billing day.
This method should cover most people who need to cancel, but there are a few exceptions depending on how you pay your bill.
How to cancel HBO Max in the app
You can also cancel directly in the app using the exact same method, except that you will need to access your billing information by clicking on the settings gear icon at the top left of your profile page.
While the above method works for anyone who signed up for the app using their card details, if you paid for HBO Max on your phone using PayPal through a Google or Apple subscription, the process cancellation will be a little different.
You’ll need to go into your phone’s app store and manage subscriptions from there.
