Google Maps is the perfect app for finding an address and knowing how to get there from your current location. But it’s also the perfect app for finding restaurants and stores in your area or even getting safe travel information.
How could it be otherwise, Google Maps also allows you to find the nearest petrol stations and as of this January it also offers information as useful as the price of fuel so you can choose the cheapest one. (although only in the mobile version).
How to find gas stations on Google Maps
Let’s start by explaining how to find gas stations on Google Maps. The app has offered this option to its users for a long time, but if you have never used the feature before, we recommend that you make sure you have the latest version installed.
In your app, you should see the “Gas Stations” tab at the top. Otherwise, with a simple search in the top bar, you should also be able to access Google’s database of gas stations near your location.
The search will return some results, which you can also see as a list if that’s right for you. On the map, you will see that the typical gas station icon has appeared, which will easily give you an idea of where they are located.
By pressing the filters tab, you can choose whether you want to list the petrol stations according to whether they are open or not, depending on whether they are open on a specific day and at a specific time … Depending on the version of the application that you have, it will also allow you to choose to classify them by relevance or by distance.
How to see gas station prices on Google Maps
If you followed the steps in the previous section, you probably noticed that the list of gas stations now also shows their prices. So just search for the nearest gas stations and take a look at the list of results.
Now at first you will only see the price of the SP95, but if you touch it you will be redirected to the complete petrol station folder on Google Maps and other fuels will appear there, like the SP98 or the diesel.
It seems important to remember that these prices are only a reference, as it is not known where Google got them from. In addition, for now, not all types of fuels are available and even not all gas stations offer this type of information at the moment.
