One of the most annoying problems in Windows is the one related to the screen resolution, since it is the only visual means that allows us to interact with the device. Although they are not usually common, when they occur they are quite annoying and, in most cases, they are always related to a configuration problem.
If your PC is experiencing screen resolution issues and displays all content larger or smaller than normal, the first thing to do is identify what the problem is. However, sometimes this is not possible because, at first glance, everything seems fine. In these cases, just try the solutions we propose below.
First of all, we must be clear about the resolution of our monitor, since there is no point in looking for a resolution higher than what it allows. This information is displayed in the specifications of the monitor through the model with a simple Google search.
Change resolution manually
This is the first thing we need to do since some games and applications, especially older ones, change the resolution to full screen. Usually, when you close it, it goes back to the original resolution, but it is possible that you are forget or an error occurs during the process.
To check what resolution the device displays, we need to access the configuration options. the Windows > System > Screen. This information is available in the section Screen resolution
But if the one we are looking for does not appear, we must follow the steps given below to solve the problem.
Update Drivers
Whether the graphics card depends on an integrated or external card, the first thing to do is to check if a new update is available for it. The NVIDIA application and the AMD application, as soon as you open it, indicate if we have an update pending installation.
If it is an integrated graphics card, you need to go to Device Manager, click on Screenshot takenselect the chart and with the right mouse button select the Update Driver option.
Change the adapter mode
Windows allows users to change the graphics adapter that the PC uses to send the signal to a monitor, whether it is an integrated graphics card or a dedicated graphics card from AMD, NVIDIA or Intel.
To try out the different options available, you need to access the Windows configuration options (Win + i), click on System > Screen > Advanced screen. Then click on Show adapter properties for.
Then, in the Adapter tab, click on Show all modes. At this point, a list will be displayed with all the modes with which we can configure the graphics adapter and where we must select the one that includes the resolution we are looking for.
Finally we click on Accept. At this point the monitor should display the resolution we selected.
