ASUS ROG Ally, presents itself as an excellent alternative for those who want to enjoy all the advantages of a computer in a small size, being a portable console that allows you to play large PC versions without having to get out of bed. But it’s not all good news, and in the times we live in, it’s rare to find a next-gen PC game that doesn’t take up a ton of space. Although the SSD itself ASUS ROG Ally can be extended, we must keep in mind that it also has a component that allows us to use a MicroSD.
How to install games on MicroSD?
At first glance it may seem like a tedious job for those who just want to install their games and that’s it, without having to change any type of console settings, but even if that is the case, we are going to show you that it’s the case. not very complicated since if you have ever changed a game disc on your computer, you already have the necessary experience to do it in the ASUS ROG Ally
The first step What you need to do is something pretty obvious: insert your MicroSD card into the console’s slot. You can find this location in the upper left area of this device.
Once this is done, Windows File Explorer will open, this will allow you to see the drives currently connected to the game console. The only thing you need to do in this step is to hold down the icon of your new volume, once this is done, a drop-down menu will appear in which you must select “Format“. Once done, you need to select the file system NTFS, as well as assign a name to the volume to be able to differentiate it. After that we only give “To start“. We now have our card ready to install the games we want!
Install games from different launchers:
Pay attention because our adventure is not over yet, we already have our card with the right format to be able to install the games we want, but we still need to know how to change the installation destination of our games, and if we insert simply the card and we will be able to download things, these will continue to be stored on the basic disk that accompanies our console, for this same reason we are going to present to you the means that there are on the different platforms to change where we want to install our games.
Steam
From this platform we must follow a series of steps to be able to modify the installation of our games, and to do this we must add our MicroSD card as media on which the games can be downloaded so that Steam ask us where we want them stored when installed.
To do this, simply press the upper left button of the application with the name “Steam“. When we have done this, a drop-down menu will appear in which we must press the button settings, and after that move on to storage. After that, just look at the top area where another button will appear saying “Add a unit“, we simply press it and select the unit we want to add. Once this is done, Steam will ask us, every time we download something, where we want to install it.
Xbox
The Xbox application offers us an easier way to install, since it automatically detects volumes and allows us to directly download the game we want. To do this, simply click on install game, once done a pop-up window will open asking us where we want to install the game.
Epic Games
Like the application mentioned above, to install a game on another disk using the launcher from Epic games we just have to tap on the game we want to install and a screen will open that will allow us to select the installation location. The only thing we need to do is click on “Explore” and create the folder where we want our games to be saved.
EA
The EA application also does not offer any type of complication when installing the games, in fact, unlike Xbox and Epic games, it is not even necessary to create a folder to download our games. In this case we must press the download button, once this is done a section will appear where it will ask us where we want to install the game, just click on “Change” and look for the name of our MicroSD.
Ubisoft Connect
For the Ubisoft application, like the others, you just have to press the download button of the game, with the difference that when the pop-up window appears to install it, you must first select the language, click on “continue” then This will appear so we can install our game wherever we want. As on the rest of the platforms, just click on the “edit” button to be able to select our MicroSD.
