Instagram offers a feature called Live Room which allows you to host a live video on your to feedwhich is a great way to break news or even stage a vlog directly from the app.
Another useful thing is that you can also have up to three other participants, all of whom will appear in the video. Do you want to start a Live Room video? That’s how you do it.
Isn’t it actually a video call?
No way. Although you can watch and chat with your friends, Instagram’s Live Rooms are designed to be broadcast. This means that your subscribers will be able to watch the broadcast and comment on it.
So while a Zoom call is private, an Instagram live room is public. Therefore, be careful what you say in this call/video as it can be seen by anyone who wishes to join.
How to Start an Instagram Live Room
Starting an Instagram live room is very simple.
First, open the Instagram app and swipe right.
In the bottom row of options (Post, Story, Reel, Live), scroll down to Live.
On the left side of the main panel, tap on the Title option and give your live chat a name. Once you have chosen the name, simply choose the “Add title” option.
Tap the “Live” button (white circle with a red circle in the middle) to start live streaming.
Instagram will notify your followers that your Live Room is active and they will be able to view the broadcast from their Instagram apps.
On the right side of the screen, you will see various icons, which will allow you to share a photo on the to feed, mute the microphone or camera and apply filters. When you want to end the call, tap the X in the upper right corner.
How to Host an Instagram Live Room with Multiple People
If you want other people to join your live room, the process is pretty much the same as creating one for yourself.
Follow the steps above to get your Instagram Live Room up and running.
At the bottom of the screen, tap the icon that shows the outline of a person’s head and shoulders with an arrow to their right. This opens the search menu, where you need to enter the Instagram account name of the people you want to reach on the call. When you have found them, press the “Invite” button.
Now all you have to do is wait for the other participants to accept the invitation and they will appear in your live stream.
Enjoy your Instagram Live Room!
