Windows 11 offers great innovations very focused on improving user productivity. Compared to the previous version of Windows, the customization of the desktop and workspace is much greater, as well as the addition of widgets with more relevant information.
Either way, you may need to uninstall some programs or apps from Windows 11 that you don’t use for anything. In this case, we are here to help you and show you the steps you can take to this end.
Uninstall programs from the Start menu
As Windows has always allowed, it is possible to quickly uninstall an application from the Windows Start menu. Windows 11. First, click on the Windows icon located in the taskbar to access the ‘start menu’.
At the top of the “Start menu” you will see a list of pinned apps. If the app you want to uninstall is on this list, just right-click on it and then choose the “Uninstall” option from the menu that appears.
If the app you want to uninstall is not in the list of pinned apps, click “All apps” to the right of the pinned apps group.
You will then see a full list of apps on the next screen. Find the app you want to uninstall, right-click it, then click “Uninstall” from the pop-up menu.
Once selected, a pop-up notification will appear. The notification will let you know that the app and all its associated data will be deleted. If you are safe with everything, click “uninstall”.
Uninstall programs from the “Settings” app
If you prefer to use the option offered by Windows through ‘Settings’, you will need to click on the ‘Search’ icon in the Windows taskbar, type ‘Apps and features’ in the search box and then click on the item ‘Apps & Features’ from search results.
This is when you will see a list of programs installed on your computer. Check the one you want to uninstall, click the ‘menu’ icon to the right of the app, then click ‘uninstall’ in the menu.
A pop-up dialog will appear indicating that the app and its associated information will be deleted. If you are sure, click ‘uninstall’.
Uninstall programs from Control Panel
To uninstall an application from the Control Panel, you must first access the Windows Control Panel, then click “Uninstall a program” in the Programs group.
A list of applications will appear. Find the app you want to uninstall, right-click it, then click “Uninstall”. A confirmation window will appear. If you are sure, click ‘uninstall’ to start the process.
Uninstall programs using ‘Windows Terminal’
Chances are that sometimes you have deleted a program and there are still leftovers or libraries on your local drive. This happens especially with some antivirus programs or programs that are very focused on computer security.
In these cases, we recommend resorting to using Windows Terminal to completely uninstall an application. First, open Windows Terminal as an administrator by right-clicking the Windows icon in the taskbar and clicking Windows Terminal (Admin).
You will now need to use the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMIC) command line utility in Windows Terminal to uninstall the programs. To use WMIC, run the following command:
‘wmic’
You will now be in wmic:root\cli. Now you’ll want to get a list of programs installed on your Windows 11 PC. Don’t skip this step, because the way the app name appears in this list is exactly what you’ll need to type.
To get a list of programs, run the following command:
‘product get name’
Now write down the exact name of the program you want to uninstall, then run this command:
‘product where name=”program name” call uninstall’
Replace “program name” with the name of the current program. For example, if you wanted to uninstall ExpressVPN, run this command:
‘product where name=”ExpressVPN” call uninstall’
Once you run the command, the system will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall the program. Type ‘Y’ again to confirm.
