The 2003 film Elf will probably be at the top of your watchlist this Christmas.
It stars Will Ferrell as Buddy, a human who was raised as an elf. After discovering that he is not like the other elves, Buddy leaves the North Pole and travels to New York to meet his biological father.
But this is a comedy film, so expect plenty of laughs along the way. This is a film that can be enjoyed by both adults and children.
And the good news is that there are plenty of options to watch it in the UK or US this Christmas.
Stream Elf online
In the UK you can stream Elf. via Sky Cinema. TV packages start at £27 per month for a Sky Stream package, or an extra £10 on top of any existing TV package.
However, if you just want to watch Elf and other great films, it’s easier to just sign up for a Now Cinema subscription. It costs £9.99 per month, or £12 per month combined with Now Entertainment for six months. Now Boost, which offers perks like 1080p video, costs £6 a month after a short free trial.
In the United States, there are several options. Elf is available on Hulu or Max (formerly HBO Max). If you already subscribe to either service, you can watch the movie at no additional cost.
And if you’ve never signed up for Hulu before, you can get a 30-day free trial. After that, plans start at $7.99 for an ad-supported plan or $17.99 per month for an ad-free plan.
There’s no free trial with Max, and it’s slightly more expensive. Plans start at $9.99 per month with ads or $19.99 per month without.
Rent or buy the digital version
If you’re not happy with the options above, there are other ways to watch Elf at home.
The first is to rent it for a short period. In the UK you can do this via Amazon, iTunes or Sky Store for £3.49. In the US, it’s Amazon, iTunes or Microsoft for $3.99.
However, you may prefer to purchase the digital version. It costs £5.99 in the UK on Amazon, iTunes and YouTube. In the US, it’s $9.99 on Amazon, iTunes, Microsoft and YouTube.
Buy the DVD or Blu-ray of Elf
If you prefer physical media, you can also get the Elf DVD from Amazon for £6.80/$3.03.
On Blu-ray it’s £13.99/$9.99.
Rent the Elf DVD for free
There is also a way to rent the Elf DVD for free. Cinema Paradiso is a subscription DVD rental service that offers a 30-day free trial on all available packages.
Redbox is a good equivalent in the US, but no free trial is available.
