When buying a printer, depending on our economy and what we can spend, the price is important, but not exclusively. All printers need ink to print, whether photos or text documents. Depending on the characteristics of the cartridge, these can have one price or another, always talking about original cartridges.
The head, the most important part of any printer, is responsible for supplying the ink to the nozzles which, in turn, are responsible for distributing the ink on the paper. If the print heads stop working or become clogged (which is quite common when not used for a period of time), the printer is not able to receive the necessary amount of ink and prints leaving blank areas, blank lines or even spots if it is receiving more ink than necessary.
Printers with or without head in the cartridge
HP, Epson, Canon, Brother and Lexmark are printer manufacturers that have been on the market for many years, so their products are completely reliable and we will not have any problems with them if we use them regularly. This is where the main aspect lies that we must take into account when choosing one or another printer.
Ink cartridges are a sealed container that delivers ink on demand to the printer, so its contents do not dry out easily. The problem lies in the heads, where ink is supplied to the printer nozzles and which are responsible for distributing it evenly when printing documents or photographs.
Printheads are located on the printer itself or on the print cartridges. This represents a series of advantages and disadvantages that we must take into account when choosing which printer to buy. Printer cartridges that have the head on the device are much cheaper than cartridges that include the head on the cartridges. Moreover, we will not have any problem if we do not purchase the original spare parts.
But at the same time, this represents a problem because, if these dry out, by not using them for a certain time or simply because of the sun, we will be forced to resort to the technical service to clean the heads if, thanks to the function that includes all the printer heads to perform this process, we do not solve the problem.
We will not have this problem with printers whose cartridges include the head. This type of printer allows us to continue for a long time without printing without affecting the operation of the printer, only the cartridge head, so it will be enough to buy another cartridge to print again as on the first day, without having to send the printer to technical support. By including the head in the cartridge, these are more expensive than those that do not include it, but it is an important advantage over them.
Manufacturers who include the head In print cartridges these are HP and Canon, although the latter is not present in all printer models. The rest of the manufacturers like Epson, Brother and Lexmark, They do not include the head with the cartridge.
What is the best option?
As we mentioned above, unless we have very specific needs, any printer manufacturer offers us the quality that we may need on a daily or sporadic basis. When choosing one or another model, we must take into account the advantages and disadvantages that cartridges with or without a head offer us.
If we print regularly, practically every day, printers that do not include the head in the cartridge are the best option, since replacement parts are much cheaper. But if we print once a week or several times during the month, the best option is to opt for a printer that includes the heads in the cartridge. This way, if during printing, the head is dry or clogged with ink, it will be enough to change it with a new one. For a cartridge head to dry completely, several months must pass, so this is the best solution if our printing needs are minimal.
