Huawei’s latest high-end products will finally arrive in Europe. The company announced that the MateBook X Pro and the tablets MatePad Pro will make the leap to the Western market after launching in China.
Indeed, these models were announced at the end of last June in the Asian country, but now we know that the company will take advantage of its presence at IFA 2022 in Berlin to make its international debut this week.
The MateBook X Pro is a ultrabook prime which includes a 12th Gen Intel i7 chip, the i7-1260P, to be more exact. It’s designed for productivity, which is why it doesn’t have a discrete GPU. Still, its integrated Iris Xe graphics processing should suffice for the most basic tasks.
That makes sense considering its portability. Despite having a fairly spacious 14.2-inch screen, the laptop weighs only 1.26 kg and, with a thickness of 15.6 mm, it is also quite thin.
The main downside is that Huawei has decided not to cram full-size USB-A ports, limiting itself to USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports.
This lightness has been achieved thanks to a new magnesium alloy. Thanks to what Huawei calls a “micro-arc oxidation coating”, it doesn’t look metallic. In fact, there is a soft sheen to its finishes.
It is available in blue and white. It’s also in a heavier gray model in the company’s standard aluminum-alloy design.
On the other hand, use a touchpad haptics with some useful shortcuts. For example, you can swipe down on either side to control brightness or volume, while tapping the top right corner will close the current window.
As for the MatePad Pros, there are two models: one with an 11-inch screen and a larger one with a 12.6-inch screen.
Both run HarmonyOS 3.0, the latest version of the company’s operating system, which adds new options like grouping and stacking. widget
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip powers both models, while they also use 120Hz OLED displays and big batteries with 40W fast charging. They’re also compatible with the Huawei M Pencil stylus.
