Huawei P50: date, price and update of its specifications

While it is true that Huawei’s battle against the United States prevented the Chinese company from accessing the Google Play Store (which makes the experience difficult Software many users), there is still no doubt about the quality of the Equipment from your mobile devices.

This was demonstrated by Huawei in 2020 with its series of smartphones P40, therefore, we are waiting for all the news with which Huawei will surprise us in 2021.

Here’s what to expect from Huawei and its new future smartphone el Huawei P50.

When will the Huawei P50 go on sale?

Huawei has maintained a steady release cycle for the past few years, with the P20, P30, and P40 lines announced in late March and released a week later.

We see no real reason why this should change in 2021, leaving aside global pandemics and the conflict with the United States, so you can expect the company to raise the curtains again in March 2021 for us. present his new Huawei. P50. The devices will likely be available during the first week of April.

Obviously, the public in the United States is very likely to see any Huawei product appear on their shores unless the administration lifts its ban on the Chinese manufacturer.

How much will the Huawei P50 cost?

Pricing has been reasonably consistent over the past few years, as this breakdown of previous models shows:

  • Huawei P20: 699 $
  • Huawei P30: 799 $
  • Huawei P40: 799 $

Hopefully Huawei will stick to those prices when the P50 arrives, offering it at $ 799. Of course, if you like to spend more on your mobile, you can always upgrade to the Pro or Pro + models, which offer additional features.

In the P40 line, the prices for these models are 999 and 1399 dollars respectively, and we expect the 2021 catalog to continue in the same line.

Huawei P50 Specifications

We still have to wait some time before the arrival of the new Huawei P50. However, there are already several websites that publish specifications and features that they claim have been leaked by contacts within Huawei.

Processor

The consensus seems to be that the P50 will arrive with a high-end Kirin processor, most likely the Kirin 9000 which first appeared in the Mate 40 Pro.

This is the prediction of the South Korean site The Elec, citing “people with direct knowledge of the subject”. And this, despite the fact that in August 2020, Huawei chairman Richard Yu warned that the company would no longer be able to source Kirin chips after 2020 thanks to US restrictions that prevent it from sourcing. into necessary components.

If Huawei found another manufacturer or just stocked enough Kirin 9000 chips to use them in the P50 series, we’ll find out. The 9000 is an impressive design based on a 5nm matrix with 5G integration, which should bring better performance and better battery life.

If the American interference turns out to be too much, it is possible that Huawei will switch from its Kirin processors to MediaTek or Qualcomm, although so far nothing confirms this.

screen

From the rumors we have seen, the screen size of the Huawei P50 has been little thought out. Some say it will be 6.22 inches with 2340 x 1080 resolution, while others say it will be 6.58 inches with 2640 x 1200.

Recently, prolific leaker @OnLeaks shared a render of what the P50 Pro is supposed to be, supposedly measuring at 6.6 ” but in almost identical dimensions to the standard 6.1 ” P40. Based on this, it’s possible that the P50 will measure 6.22 inches while the P50 Pro will have a larger screen of 6.6 inches.

However, those hoping for 120Hz refresh rates seem to be disappointed, as even the recently announced Mate 40 Pro only ships with a 90Hz panel.

All of the rumors we’ve seen so far seem to suggest that will be the case for the P50. While this is an improvement over the P40, which only processed 60Hz, it does mean Huawei phones will miss out on a flagship feature found on many of its rivals, including the OnePlus 8T and Samsung Galaxy S20.

Cameras

Cameras have long been an impressive area for Huawei. On the P40, we were surprised by the image quality of the complement of the 50 MP f / 1.9 wide-angle, 8 MP f / 2.2 3x telephoto lens and 16 MP f / 2.0 ultra-wide optics.

The big change with the upcoming P-series cameras seems to be the addition of a “liquid lens,” according to many Chinese sources.

As GSMArena found out, famous Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station made mention of the technology, which will likely be paired with Sony’s buzzing IMX782 image sensor.

Meanwhile, an article on the AnTuTu website said multiple sources have suggested Huawei will roll out the technology to its devices “for the first time next year.”

As for what a liquid lens does, it will supposedly allow much faster autofocus speeds, down to a few milliseconds, similar to those of the human eye.

It will also be able to offer superior image stabilization and, best of all, it is expected to be more durable than existing equivalent camera systems.

Due to these strengths, it is believed that Huawei will use this feature on the P50 series telephoto lenses, rather than the main camera.

There is also talk of a 5 MP camera to facilitate depth perception and focus; for portrait and night modes.

The renderings shared by @OnLeaks appear to have a single front-facing holepunch camera on the supposed P50 Pro, below the dual offering of the P40 line. That makes sense, considering how much space a dual holepunch camera takes up, but there are no details on what the front-facing camera might offer at this time.

The P40 might already capture video at 4K / 60fps, so there’s not much room for improvement, but Huawei could implement software improvements to boost the already excellent stabilization and focus on video. Whatever solution Huawei decides to offer on the P50, we’re sure it will be one of the best.

Software

As of this writing, the US ban on Huawei has had its biggest impact on the software available for its phones. Google Play services are not offered, so accessing the Google Play Store is not an option unless you want to use a fairly technical solution.

It is not known whether or not this will change in the immediate future. The US presidential election may have something to do with it, but it will only be a matter of waiting.

Meanwhile, Huawei is working on its own operating system, HarmonyOS, which could make its first appearance on devices in 2021. So if the P50 arrives, it could be very different from its predecessors.
