After a two-year hiatus, Huawei is back with a new version of its Watch Fit series, and the budget-friendly Watch Fit 3 arrives with several interesting upgrades.
Huawei offers premium wearables like the Watch 4 Pro and Watch GT 4, but the Watch Fit 3 fills a budget need, especially if you like the design of the Apple Watch but don’t have one the means.
But can it compete with the Apple Watch SE 2 and its rivals such as the Fitbit Sense 2 to be among the best smartwatches? That’s what it brings to the fight.
Digital Crown
The Watch Fit 2 looked a lot like the Apple Watch, but the Fit 3 looks even more like its fruit-themed rival.
Its shape is a little squarer and more “clean”. Huawei has even added a digital crown this time for improved navigation.
Huawei says the rotating crown features a “solar pattern” that “represents the confidence and assurance of young users, focused on their goals – whether it’s their lifestyle habits or their health and safety goals.” of physical fitness”.
The device is also lighter than some competitors (26g) and comes in a wide range of colors, including black, pink, green, moon white and pearl white – the latter includes a leather strap.

More advanced heart rate monitoring
Huawei’s upgraded TruSeen 5.5 systems are expected to provide an improved heart rate monitoring experience. Huawei claims the improved sensors bring more accurate heart rate readings and analysis.
The company includes AI algorithms to improve the data collected by the sensor.
According to the company, it “integrates a multi-channel signal enhancement algorithm anchored in Huawei-exclusive AI deep learning, ensuring the most accurate heart rate readings possible.”
Deeper sleep tracking
Sleep tracking is also apparently better than the Watch Fit 2 and Watch Fit 3 thanks to its TruSleep 4.0 system, dubbed “Advanced Scientific Sleep Enhancement.”
The system can detect your activity, habits and sleeping patterns. By analyzing them, it provides you with an overall score (supposedly based on authoritative industry quality standards), as well as suggestions on how to improve your sleep.
This is similar to sleep tracking on almost any wearable device, but it also includes “sleep structure, sleep quality, and sleep health, including newly displayed physiological indicators,” which will hopefully produce insights. more precise data.
“Sleep Breathing Awareness” can help detect sleep apnea, while a nap mode means you’re taking a nap and the watch will wake you up after detecting you’ve slept for 30 minutes.

NFC
One piece of hardware missing from the Watch Fit 2 was NFC. This chip is now on the Watch Fit 3 spec sheet, meaning you can use the device for contactless payments.
However, there’s a catch: Huawei confirmed to Tech Advisor that “NFC payments on the Watch Fit 3 are currently not available in overseas markets.”
So you can’t use the Fit 3 to pay for your morning coffee or take the subway outside of China. We hope this feature will be added in the future, but Huawei declined to comment on its plans.
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is available today in the UK and Europe from the Huawei Store, with wider availability from retail partners from May 22.
