Xbox Game Pass is, for many gamers, one of the best things that happened in the world of video games because it brings the possibility of having a large number of titles available at a price that would be unthinkable at other times in history. That’s why the number of subscribers continues to grow and with it the number of new features that Microsoft bets on every month.
Game Pass: perfect for the here and now
As it stands, it is clear that the Xbox Game Pass alternative is the perfect solution to squeeze a console at a very specific time. In other words, if you subscribe to take advantage of the number of games that are updated every month, it is to always have something modern and quality at your fingertips with which to have a good time for days. or weeks. So on paper it’s perfect but I have to say that, at least in the undersigned’s case, that initial love at first sight has passed.
And don’t think we’re looking for flaws in the service: Xbox Game Pass is perfect no matter how you look at it, regardless of what it means economically for a company to launch their news directly there or without thinking about what they will gain or lose for each other. Just as a service to the user, it’s 10, but in the last few months I realized that I have to buy the games one by one again. With patience and peace of mind, and at the best price by taking advantage of the offers, but collect them from the Microsoft Store.
It’s already happened with music
The music packages are also here to stay, after years of developing a music library born out of the huge collection of CDs I bought in the 90s and part of the 2000s. There was a time when because of Spotify or Apple Music I stopped updating it
At that point I had to go back to my old music library, upload it to YouTube Music and only then could I listen to it again. With Xbox Game Pass, I have a feeling something similar is going to happen. That the games we have now are perfect for the current moment, for today’s generation, but over the years, in the end, what’s truly unalterable will be the library we get, the one we we supply month after month with the new products that really attract us and entice us to buy individually. Because if not, this generation will pass and if Microsoft decides that Game Pass is not the future and closes it, or limits it too much by deleting many of the games it has stored, we will have a hollow console without these classics that we have thrilled so many.
So far I have been able to revive old games with cartridges, CDs, GD-Roms, DVDs and mini DVDs, UMDs, Blu-rays and downloads for all consoles that hit The stores. Game Pass is ideal for having fun today, here and now, but I’m not so clear when I look to the future and I hope that in 15 or 20 years I can relive some glorious times with my favorite Xbox Series X (or Xbox Series S) games because, no one knows, if by then Microsoft will have forgotten video games and this package which seems so formidable to us today ends up becoming the worst enemy of an entire generation.
