Less than a day after the official launch of Final Fantasy XVI for PCAs expected, we already have several mods for the game, but especially a called FFXVFix (something like “fix for FFXVI”) which is designed to make players’ lives easier and has automatically become one of those must-have mods to have a better gaming experience. We’ll tell you everything right away.
One of the great things about PC gaming is mods, modifications that are usually made by the community and that usually have all kinds of uses: from changing the appearance of the game’s characters to graphical or performance improvements, to mods that completely change the game like Elden Ring’s Convergence can be. In this case, we are looking at one of those mods that are necessary because they greatly improve the quality of life, so let’s see what it offers.
The best mod for Final Fantasy XVI
FFXVIFix is a mod that takes up just 632 KB, or just over half a MB, and stands out for its more than remarkable usefulness. To begin with, this mod adds support for ultrawide monitors in Final Fantasy XVI, something that is inexplicably missing from the game natively, and which means that those with ultrawide monitors have to play with large black bars on the sides of the screen, playing in 16:9 aspect ratio instead of the usual 21:9 in that format.
In addition to this compatibility addition, the game also adds a slider bar in the options to be able to manually adjust FOV
Aside from these three things, which are the most important, FFXVIFix also adds the JXL quality option when taking screenshots, and fixes the “lag” that was hitting the game when taking screenshots (another thing we don’t understand why Square Enix developers didn’t take into account before). Finally, the mod also allows you to use Motion Blur + Frame Generation at the same time, something that the factory game lacked.
As you can see, with a sub 1MB mod, Final Fantasy XVI can be improved a lot, and again, it shows that thank goodness we have a great modding community on PC, because it certainly seems like developers don’t care much about their games once they’ve released them. Maybe the whole exclusive thing and some companies being hesitant to release their games on PC isn’t because of a piracy issue, but rather because they’re afraid that a group of homegrown users will bother their developers with things like this.
By the way, if you want to get FFXVIFix, it’s available on Nexus Mods.
