MinisForum This is a company that probably looks familiar to you, but it is precisely not for motherboards, but for mini PCas its popularity is due to these light and small computers, however, it wants to use this name to expand into other areas as well.
And that is why he now presents us with a ITX motherboard, thus trying to start another type of business, since mini PCs have been consolidated. Let’s see what exactly this component is, and whether it is really worth it and whether it can be a success, or just an attempt that achieves nothing. Although we will have to see more releases in the future.
Here is the MinisForum AR900i
This new component is not something exclusive and typical of MinisForum, but rather a partnership with Intel, a company experienced in this type of product. From what we understand, the process would be simpler and the end result perhaps better.
For this, they have the powerful processor of this company, the Core i9-13900HX, which has a configuration of 24 cores and 32 threads. This includes 8 P cores with 16 threads and 16 E cores with 16 threads.
This motherboard is said to support high-performance cooling where we see an option for a 120mm fan. All this to properly cool this CPU, allowing a TDP of up to 100W in a stable manner.
And among the card options we can see that it has two slots for DDR5 memory-5600 SO-DIMM, four slots M.2 storage (PCI Express 4.0 x4) and one PCI Express 5.0 (x16) expansion slot. As well as with a heat sink and fan already integrated as standard.
Regarding network and wireless connections, it could not be missing 2.5 Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. All in its latest version. And at the level of physical connectors, we also have HDMI x 1, DisplayPort x 1 and USB Type C (DP Alt compatible) x 1. Likewise, thanks to these 3 connectors, you can have 3 simultaneous screens without any problem.
Now though, what is the price? Here the drawback could arise, because, in theory, it looks very good, a cutting-edge card with everything you need, however, its cost is not entirely affordable. We would opt for a recommended price of 629 dollars and $575. In a pre-sale in which we are assured of delivery of the product by the end of this month, more precisely on December 28.
The price of the product is a bit uncontrollable, at least in Europe, since in America it has a more affordable cost, and in Asia it is definitely worth it, being even lower. Because to these 629 dollars we would have to add RAM memory, storage units, power supply… as well as peripherals and more details. The cost of building a computer would therefore not be profitable at all.
And you, what do you think of this product? Do you think it’s a good buy? Or does it force us to purchase components at its level, ultimately spending a very high amount of money? Leave us a comment with your opinion.
