In the Time Spy test, the RX 7800M scored 15,806 points, surpassing the RX 7700XT for desktop computers with an average performance of 15,289 points. Obviously, it also outperforms the per formance of the RX 7700 S
Which, if the RX 7800M couldn’t do, it’s with its older brother, the RX 7900MThe high-end graphics card for laptops shows a performance of 17,011 points. This model has 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory also with an RDNA 3 chip and Navi 32.
What is clearer than this test is that laptops and mini PCs integrating the RX 7800M will be one of the most interesting options on the market.
What about NVIDIA graphics?
The RTX 4070’s performance for desktops is 16,565 points, which is a difference of almost 800 points in favor of the NVIDIA model. As for the laptop versions, the NVIDIA RTX 4070 has a much lower score than the AMD RX 7800M with only 12,382 points.
However, the NVIDIA RTX 4080, also in its laptop version, reaches 18,301 Time Spy points. In this way, the RX 7800M is halfway in terms of performance between the RTX 4080 and the RTX 4070 in the laptop version.
RX 7800M only on OneXGPU 2
At the moment, the only way to get the RX 7800M in external graphics format is through the OneXGPU 2 eGPU since, for the moment, it seems that no other manufacturer is betting on it. Of course, the OneXGPU 2 is a project available through Indiegogo, so it is possible that it will not be realized in the end. We will have to wait for its price and see if the proposal proposed by this manufacturer fits the budget of users.
