Guadalajara is the largest city, the second most populous city in Mexico. After our passion for technology and science, we visited the Intel Guadalajara Desing Center (GDC), a design firm to create and validate new technologies and innovations based in Zapopan, Jalisco.
In 2010, Intel decided to allow the project to build its own Campus in Guadalajara, where it was finally opened in March 2014 with modern engineering and engineering, with a greater emphasis on conservation and conservation. They reopened Accreditation and Research Laboratories (The latter is one of three in the world, the other two are in Oregon and Santa Clara). The Campus has about 20% of the women (25% wanted in the future). This is undoubtedly a great example of diversity, because women have to have their own space in the technology field and increase interest in order to join the new challenges of modern technology.
Intel GDC has two office buildings, and a large laboratory with a capacity for the future growth of about 1800 people, with about 1500 people.
Intel GDC is primarily dedicated to the data segment with 85% share while the remaining 15% is related to customer platforms. They are able to work with industry, universities, the community, and conclude with government, work together to achieve an ecological prosperity program, and develop new talent.
Leadership is required, establishment, where others go for patents. On average this campus creates, in part thanks to a group called the "dream team", a lot of ownership over the last 5 years (more than 5 patents per year).
Silicon development, which will go to the processor or chipset, virtual models, development of computer platforms (used internally), validation, robustness testing, how new buildings integrate with the operating system, connectivity testing and speed of data center products; Say what you can think of and at Intel GDC they work on it.
Intel GDC is a very young, experienced growth organization, with a great deal of loneliness to grow and expand, the average age of the workforce is 32, and since 2013 that growth has been sustained.
The research labs (Intel Labs) is highly developed and many products were developed that may or may not end up in the end user's hands. While I was traveling with my partner Gabriel Arciniega exploring the facilities, they let us in The anechoic chamber which basically allows for completely clear control of the completely separated audio out and pyramid-shaped foam, I asked for the price and it's up. Of course, you should take care of these pimples because they are very fragile. With this camera, a voice assistant search is performed, for example (see if there are certain sounds in the same voice), or produce some sounds and find their origin. In addition, another matter they are investigating may be drones on the go they find an object or person and avoid it, or mimic other behaviors within the car, by using certain technologies I cannot say.
The certification laboratories They are very complex, you have to make sure that designers are performing the right tasks, and engineers should understand the design of the elements, if any errors exist, and they should solve many problems before introducing the product to the market. They are preparing to do it «Power to» which is basically told when a new processor arrives at a research facility, builds a stage to illuminate it, that everything is integrated, and then repeats experiments until everything is working correctly.
45% of permanent employees have a master.
On the other hand, at GDC they strongly support SMEs by providing a laboratory so that they can attend and receive advice, information on high caliber, information on affiliated conferences, artificial intelligence and much more.
Information dissemination is also encouraged, if you are good at something that you can teach at the university. That is why about 50 GDC engineers are teaching in educational institutions.
During our resource journey we witness the places where creativity and innovation reach their highest potential, engineers have complete freedom to design and test technologies that are yet to be found and that some, if warranted, allow access to an end-user. We also interviewed a team that has developed patents more than ever, known as Intel Labs' dream, which gave us their idea of their achievements and secrets, and worth another note to publish soon.
Data centers, laboratories, unavailable processor experiments, and others make it a special and unique place, I cannot describe what my eyes saw, it was a consuming experience.
In collaboration with Jesús Palomino, Director-General of the Intel Design Center in Guadalajara, we leave you a summary of what happened, and in his words he will explain what Intel GDC means for Mexico and Latin America.
I thank Intel for the opportunities to visit these facilities, take pilgrimages and meet great people who are seeking new technology every day to improve people's lives. If you are a student and interested in this campus, you can check out the Facebook page.
