But it is not the only manufacturer to launch exclusive products for China, since Intel follows the same path with the launch of the Core i7 14790F Black Edition, a processor that, if we pay attention to the numbering, should be superior to Core i7 14700F released a few days ago, but it’s not like that.
In fact, this is not the first time that Intel has launched exclusive processors for China, as it has also previously launched Black Edition variants of the 12th and 13th generations of Intel processors, specifically the Core i7 13790F and Core i5 12490F, also in the range. . Black edition.
The Black Edition version replaces the traditional blue color of the box of this manufacturer’s processors with black, which allows you to quickly identify which processors are launched exclusively for this country.
The Intel Core i7 14790F joins the one that this same manufacturer launched a few days ago, the Intel Core i5 14490F. The main difference between this exclusive processor for China and the international version of the Intel Core i5 14400 is the speed and cache memory, where in both cases it is superior.
New Intel Core i7 14790F processor
The new Core i7 14790F processor has a very strange configuration since it has a fewer processors and threads. This new processor has a total of 16 cores (8 performance and 8 efficiency) while the 14700F is managed by 20 cores (20 performance and 12 efficiency).
The number of threads also varies, since the 14790F version has 24 compared to 28 for the 14700F version. But the changes do not stop there, since we also find differences in the cache memory, where the new processor has 36 MB compared to the 33 MB of the 14700F model.
The rest of the specifications are exactly the same in both models, except L2 cache memory
Regarding the compatibility of these processors, manufacturer ASUS offers support for the 14700F but not the 14790F, although it is probably only a matter of time before they update their website to add it. In the case of Gigabyte cards we encounter the same problem, since support is only offered for the 14700F model but not for the 14790F.
In principle, ASUS and Gigabyte cards should have no problem providing full support for the entire Raptor Lake lineup, including the 14.790F model.
Pricing and availability
The 14700F model has a price in Europe of 448 dollars, while the China-exclusive Core i7 14790K model is now on sale for $409 at the exchange rate. Considering that the features it offers us for a difference of 40 dollars / dollars, this new processor is not really worth it.
