Apple fans around the world are gearing up for the launch of the iPhone 16 series, but a number of case makers seem to have launched their products ahead of schedule, giving us a sneak peek at the new phones.
The images, sent to Tech Advisor via email and now live on Noreve’s website, confirm that Apple is opting for a vertical camera arrangement in a pill-shaped bump, something that was reported by leakers back in 2018. February 2024.
Another competing store, Alcanside, also offers the same design, leading us to believe that these are credible mockups rather than fake AI-generated images. Furthermore, this is not the first time that a case maker has leaked designs before the official launch of a smartphone.
This design change pays homage to older models like the iPhone X, but it could also have a functional benefit: integrating spatial video. Of course, this is just speculation. We’ll learn more about the phone at Apple’s event, which starts in a few hours.
This camera shape is only present in product images of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. The other two models apparently confirmed by Noreve and Alcanside, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, retain the trio of triangular lenses that we have seen in recent generations.
These cases also seem to confirm that the much-talked-about iPhone 16 Ultra will not be launching at Apple’s event, with the tech giant sticking with the same four models we saw in the iPhone 15 generation.
Here are some more cases showing the iPhone 16 from Woodcessories and Armor-X.
