How much power do we save when removing a PC?
A computer that is closed but connected to an electrical outlet has use of standby about 0.5 watts, so a simple power saving action would be a reason to release the PC from power when not using it. However, you should know that even if we had the equipment for a month, but are connected at the moment, at the price where electricity is available, you will be spending about 5 euros cents per month.
The calculation is: 0.5 watts / 1000 (local transmission), and the output is increased 24 hours a day and 30 days a month. What will be the monthly kWh consumed (0.36 kWh), and this should be multiplied by the amount of kWh (about € 0,14 depending on the company and rate).
As you can see, a small amount that is not really important to most people it would be no excuse to connect and release PC every time it is used.
The dangers of leaving the PC connected to power
In fact, the risks are the same, or less, than any other function. For example, if electrical installation is old, unstable or in poor conditionOf course we will have high voltage power circuits, short circuits and others, but as we mentioned, like any other regular appliance, such as a fridge or microwave. In fact, it's even less because the electric PC has advanced security systems to avoid those problems.
On the other hand, if you live in an area with heavy thunderstorms, this often causes electrical equipment failure. In this case, it may be best to turn on the PC (and any unused app) because it can be damaged by storms. However, this is something that weather does not happen very often though neither will we
So would it be good to turn on the PC?
As a general rule, it is not necessary to remove the PC from power. The use you have on the exclusion line is very small and you won't think it's someone else's money hole (remember that on average they will be 5 cents a month for use), and depending on the risks, they are far less than any other home appliance.
Now, if there is a storm at any time, it is best to turn off and not build as many electrical appliances as possible, as a precaution. Already if a problem arises a poor electrical installation, it may not be enough to have filters or UPS to avoid problems, but either it can be the same thing to release it or not.
It is also advisable not to postpone it if you are going to be away from home for a long time. And don't worry, because the mother stack is able to hold on for years.
In short, not whether to disconnect a PC when not using it is commendable or not, that as a general rule it has no adverse effect that we should be concerned about, except in a few cases we have noted.
