The problems of the new ASUS motherboards with the CPU radiators continue and if a few days ago we told you that some Noctua models were not working, now we have to repeat the bad news, since shut up! and ARCTIC have published the list of cards compatible with their heat sinks and the situation with the ASUS Z690 is repeating itself.
Having a good cooler for our CPU is important, especially when talking about processors that can reach high temperatures and high power consumption at specific times. Well, shut up! and ARCTIC have published the list of boards with Z690 chipset that can mount their heat sinks to cool the new Intel Core 12.
With the creation of a new generation of processors comes collaboration across multiple fronts due to the open nature of PC hardware. This means that manufacturers of different components must work together with each other in order to allow compatibility between the different parts they manufacture, although there are times when full compatibility cannot be assured.
You will not be able to use your radiator, rest assured! on your ASUS Z690
Starting with shut up! They have released the following list of their live CPU coolers:
- Dark Rock Pro 4
- Dark rock 4
- Dark Rock Thin
- Dark Rock TF 2
- Shadow Rock 3
- Shadow Rock Slim 2
- Shadow Rock LP
- Pure Rock 2
- Pure rock
- Silent Loop 2
- Pure loop
And they made it clear that they did not work on some ASUS Z690 chipset cards:
The reasons behind this? Well, the same ones we discussed with Noctua a few days ago and it’s still the position of some of the board components like the VRM split that makes it difficult to install the heatsinks, as well as in some models. it affects the expansion capabilities of RAM.
ARCTIC also has issues with heat sinks
In the case of ARCTIC what stands out are its water cooling based heat sinks and in order to install them to cool the new Intel processors they made it clear that there were some issues when mounting their Liquid Freezer II.
In the words of the manufacturer himself, what happens is the following:
A selection of our motherboards is interfering with the PCB cover, this can be solved by removing it. To do this, you only have to unscrew two screws. It does not affect the safety, performance and security of Liquid Freezer II.
Motherboards affected? Well, according to the list that most posted with this issue, these are ASUS motherboards with Z690 chipset, although we can also find a model from ASRock and another from GIGABYTE such as Z690 Taichi and Z690 UD respectively.
As for ASUS Z690 motherboards, which require Liquid Freezer II to perform this operation for their installation, they are as follows:
- First Z690-A.
- ProArt Z690-Creator WIFI.
- ROG Formula Maximus Z690.
- ROG Maximus Z690 Hero.
- ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WIFI D4
- ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming Wi-Fi
- ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming Wi-Fi
- ROG Strix Z690-G Gaming Wi-Fi
- ROG Strix Z690-I Gaming Wi-Fi
The good news is, unlike rest assured! which cannot be mounted directly on ASUS motherboards, in this case we can do it and it only takes an operation as simple as removing a few screws for installation.
