It’s not your mouse’s problem: change that in Uncharted Legacy of Thieves

Change, Legacy, mouses, problem, Thieves, Uncharted

The Unexplored Legacy of Thieves is already among us, available on PC on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. And as soon as it started reaching its proud buyers, too a bit of discouragement has spread because one of the old problems has returned faced by the computer gamer who prefers to use the mouse and keyboard as a means of venturing into a video game instead of the classic controller or the PS5 DualSense.

What is this mouse acceleration?

Indeed, this problem to which we refer is mouse acceleration, a drawback that can drive the player crazy and it makes you perceive during the game that you do not have full control over what is happening on the screen, since you often have the feeling that the game does not respond to what is asked of it. And of course, when this happens in the middle of combat with multiple enemies, the difficulties increase unnecessarily.

Mouse acceleration is a tool available to Windows (in this case) to saves time when moving the pointer on the screen from the office. Instead of reproducing on the screen exactly the distance we travel with the mouse on the carpet, it performs a small calculation to speed up this movement and make us arrive before the desired place. It is, as you may have experienced, a smart exercise in efficiency and friendliness.

Unfortunately, The Unexplored Legacy of Thieves it is not configured to automatically disable this annoying cursor acceleration effect and keep it in both games, so if we want to forget it while playing Nathan Drake (or Chloe) we will have to remove it from the system operating itself. How? Well look.

Disable mouse acceleration

Of course, before carrying out the process that we are going to review below, you must take into account that from The Unexplored Legacy of Thieves you always miss that accelerationit would therefore be necessary to redo step by step everything that we indicate below to activate it again:

  • open the Setting of Windows.
  • Look for the section devices.
  • Access the properties of the Mouse.
  • Now click on Additional mouse options.
  • In this menu, mouse propertiesPicking out pointer options.
  • Now look inside the section of Movement.
  • Uncheck the box to Improve pointer accuracy.
  • click on Accept for all changes to be saved.

Now when you return to the game you will notice the change and the way the mouse travels the same distance on the mat as on the screen, which will, above all, allow you to more easily direct movements towards enemies that do not benefit no more of that acceleration that kept us from setting every shot properly. The same thing happened with the camera in the scenes of Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End when we leave with the Jeep, that to place the camera at the best possible point we sweat ink.

Hopefully Sony, in a future patch, put this option in the game settingsso you don’t have to access Windows settings over and over every time you enter and exit it.
