However, the process to program our computer to turn off and on is totally different. If you want the PC to always turn off at the same time every day, simply use the Windows Task Scheduler application. But if you want to turn it on, things change, since the PC is completely turned off, you cannot use a program to wake it from sleep.
Turn on the PC every day at a certain time
Since we cannot use a Windows application, the computer is turned off. The easiest way we can use to schedule our PC to turn on at the same time every day is to use our computer’s UEFI BIOS. Whether our PC has a BIOS or uses the most modern version, UEFI, in both cases we can schedule the power on of our PC.
Depending on the BIOS/UEFI model, the configuration options for this function will be more or less extensive. In the case of Gigabyte cards, we can only configure this scheduler to start at the same time every day (we cannot set the day of the week we want it to turn on). Additionally, we can also select the hour, minute and second when we want the device to start the power-on process.
This option falls within the framework Energy options BIOS or its acronym in English Power management. Depending on the manufacturer of our board, we will be able to identify this option in one category or another and with options similar to those we have indicated. Once we have established the configuration we want for the computer to turn on every day, we just have to save the changes and restart the PC.
Other methods
If the PC is completely turned off, we cannot use any Windows application so that automatically, at a certain time, the PC turns on.
If our BIOS does not include the possibility of programming our PC to turn on at the same time every day, a function that is not available on laptops, we can use the Wake On Lan (WOL) function, a function in which the router, through a command, you can turn on the computer at a specific time.
The problem with this process is that we cannot configure it to take place automatically, but rather it is the user who must send the corresponding instruction to the equipment so that it starts.
