KIOXIA EXCERIA PRO and G2, the gaming SSD for demanding gamers

demanding, Exceria, gamers, gaming, Kioxia, Pro, SSD

There is no doubt that NVMe SSDs are only due to the huge amount of improvements they bring over hard drives and especially NVMe SSDs which use the PCIe interface, which with their huge transfer speed , is a before and after in terms of performance. Especially in games and in applications such as 3D modeling or real-time video editing that require high search and data transfer speeds.

KIOXIA did not want to be outdone and the creators of the BiCS FLASH 3D memory decided to implement their new technology in two M.2 type 2280 units named EXCERIA PRO and EXCERIA G2. Who are compatible with the management program SSD utility of the KIOXIA itself for the supervision and maintenance of the SSD itself.

KIOXIA NVMe EXCERIA PRO and G2 SSD Specifications

KIOXIA EXCERIA PRO G2

Starting with the EXCERIA PRO, there is an NVMe M.2 SSD which uses the PCI Express 4.0 4-lane interface, which allows it to offer twice the bandwidth of its predecessor, the EXCERIA PLUS. So we are talking about 6,800 / 6,400 megabytes per second sequential read and write speeds At the very least, this places the EXCERIA PRO at the level of other solutions of the same type and becomes an excellent choice for high-end gaming PCs.

As for EXCERIA G2, it is a NVMe SSD for 4-lane PCIe 3.0 interface with the same form factor as the EXCERIA PRO, but it is intended for a more general market, since its transfer speed of more than 2000MB / s. It is therefore a type of memory for much more modest and general systems. Its transfer speed, although it may seem low compared to the EXCERIA PRO, is higher than that of an SSD with a SATA3 interface.

The storage capacity of the two NVMe SSDs? Both can reach 2TB of storage, but we have to keep in mind that these are numbers given in multiples of 1000, not 1024, so the final storage is a bit lower. The EXCERIA PRO and the EXCERIA G2 used the BRICS 3D memory, KIOXIA’s implementation of 3D NAND memory, which provides greater storage capacity than conventional NAND memory by vertically stacking multiple 2D NAND memory chips.

They are not for sale at the moment, but KIOXIA will showcase both EXCERIA PRO and EXCERIA G2 at ChinaJoy in Shanghai which starts July 30 and ends August 2.
