Like it or not, almost everything related to hardware is made in China, an episode of Coronavirus outbreaks. So far, something already exists in the world over 9,600 confirmed cases of the virus, and the government is literally shutting down every town to try to stop the virus from spreading, which means most businesses and factory have had to stop their production because many employees cannot access their jobs.
Wuhan, a city of 10 million inhabitants, was the first to be closed (has been the case since January 23), with 15 other cities following a wave of epidemics: Chibi, Dangyang, Enshi, Ezhou, Huanggang, Huangshi, Jingmen, Suizhou, Qianjjiang, Xiangyang, Xianning, Xiantao, Xiaogan, Yichang, and Zhijiang. Many of them are owned by hardware manufacturers, especially in the NAND memory, and are either currently in production or will be drying up shortly before staff shortages.
Producers at risk for Coronavirus
The list of storage product manufacturers, including the NAND memory, includes:
- Intel: with its Fab 68 making a 3D NAND memory in Dali.
- Micron: and its factory in Xian.
- Samsunghas industry in three areas:
- Shaanxi: Samsung China Semiconductor.
- Xian: NAND F1x1 wafer factory.
- Suzhou: Samsung Shizhou Research Center (SCCR)
- SK Hynix: with its HC1 and HC2 factory in Chongquing and Wuxi respectively.
- Tsinghua Unigroup: factories in Chengdu and Nanjing.
- Yangtze Memory Technology Company: with a plant in Wuhan itself.
- Seagate: has hard disk space in Wuxi.
- HGST (from Western Digital): has factories in both Shenzen and Shanghai.
While Tsinghua and Yangtze are the only retailers in China, others have plans to distribute globally and if these factories in China are closed, the supply of products will be at high risk and could lead to financial disaster. them.
What will happen from now on?
The situation in the world, the Chinese authorities ‘response to the Coronavirus’ population is getting worse. The Chinese New Year started on January 25 and in a sense it should end this weekend, February 2. However, they have already announced that they will extend the season (so that people don’t go to work) until February 6, and cities like Shanghai have already said they will extend it further, until day 9 .
Businesses in Suzhzou, the country’s largest business and firms center, closed until February 8 at least.
The list of manufacturers of NAND products we have already set up, as well as other technology companies, has announced that they will try to continue manufacturing in the usual way, though eventually if the government orders the closure of their factories they can do nothing more than listen. And this will mean that inflation of its products in stock due to its inability to make more, unless the stock is short enough that its products in stock are sufficient to run out of stock.
