Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe just exploded with Deadpool and Wolverine, and head honcho Kevin Feige has made some huge announcements for Phase Six, which (so far) spans from spring 2025 to 2027.
These films have seen several date and title changes, but the biggest shake-up came during the Hall H Marvel panel at Comic-Con San Diego 2024. The fifth Avengers film, The Kang Dynasty, was completely wiped from Marvel’s schedule.
This is due to the controversies surrounding Jonathan Majors, who was dropped by Marvel after being convicted of third-degree reckless assault.
The fifth Avengers movie will indeed happen, but Kang will not be the villain – as previous films and TV series would have led us to believe.
If you’re interested in knowing what movies are coming out and when, we’ve got a guide below. You can also check out a similar article for Phase Five.
The Fantastic Four
Theatrical release date: July 25, 2025
Starring: Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm), Ralph Ineson (Galactus)
In 2020, Marvel confirmed that it was developing a Fantastic Four movie, with Matt Shakman directing. This MCU adaptation of the Fab Four will be set in the 1960s, with a retrofuturistic twist.
The film will take place in a universe separate from the Sacred Timeline and will feature the Fantasticar. The villain is Galactus, an entity capable of devouring entire planets. Previous Fantastic Four films have featured Doctor Doom as the villain, who will not be the main antagonist in this film… and there is a key reason for that.
Avengers: Judgment Day
Theatrical release date: May 1, 2026
Starring: Robert Downey Jr (Doctor Doom), Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan ( Bucky Barnes), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), David Harbor (Alexei Shostakov)
Marvel fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU, but not as Iron Man. Instead, he’ll be playing the iconic villain Doctor Doom.
The most likely explanation for his appearance in the story is that he is a variant of Tony Stark, who uses his intelligence and wits to do evil rather than good. However, we are not sure yet.
He will be joined by the actors of Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts*. But that’s not all: the Russo brothers will also be back to direct Avengers 5 and 6.
Avengers: Secret Wars
Theatrical release date: May 7, 2027
With: To be determined
The sixth Avengers movie is inspired by a comic book story arc that centers on a shapeshifting alien race called the Skrulls, who infiltrate the world and replace members of the government — and the Avengers. It could well be that some of our heroes aren’t who we think they are…
What other Marvel projects are in the works?
There are several other Marvel movies and series that we know are coming soon, but have no release dates yet. This could mean that some of them will be released a little earlier than the above movies and fit into Phase Five.
