In its early days, Internet Explorer was the web browser par excellence, the most widely used and the most complete. Years later, he managed to take another step: becoming the most hated and the one who played in the most memes. Now we are preparing to say goodbye forever.
It may surprise you that Internet Explorer is still alive, but the truth is that there are still (few) people using it. They’ll have to stop doing that soon, because on June 15, Microsoft will stop offering support for its desktop app.
Those who aren’t ready to say goodbye to the browser for good can always use Microsoft Edge’s Internet Explorer Compatible Mode. Of course, they will benefit from the faster, safer and more modern experience that the Edge offers.
At the end of 2020, Microsoft had already made a drastic decision that caused many Internet Explorer users to switch browsers. At the time, the company was blocking several web pages in IE for security reasons.
It should be noted, however, that the announced death of Internet Explorer will only occur in certain versions of Windows 10, specifically version 20H2 or later. They can continue to use it, however, those who have installed Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
But if you think it’s time to switch browsers and go for a more modern one with better features, check out our guide to the best web browsers (divulge:Google Chrome).
