Audio brand Beastly Monster has announced a pair of DNA Bluetooth speakers that feature Qi wireless charging along with plenty of other tech.
In fact, Monster claims the DNA One and DNA Max are the world’s first portable speakers to feature built-in Qi wireless charging. However, Sonos might have something to say about that with the Roam and Roam SL supporting any Qi wireless charger.
The company goes on to say that the DNA speakers are “the industry’s first portable speakers that can be charged wirelessly via an included high-speed Qi charging base.”
So, it could come down to a technicality as the Sonos Roam models don’t come with the wireless charger. It’s worth noting that Sonos’ custom charger is faster at 10W, while Monster’s “high-speed” base is just 7.5W.
There’s also USB-C charging which is less convenient and the same charging speed and that’s how you can use the speaker as a power bank to supply juice to other devices that need power. a recharge – although at only 5W.
Of course, the included Qi charger can be used to charge any compatible wireless charging product when the speaker isn’t sitting on it.
Freak
When fully charged, the two DNA speakers can last up to 14 hours of playtime and weigh 1.5 or 2.5 pounds respectively. There are two active drivers and two passive radiators in each speaker but, as the name suggests, the Max’s are larger and this speaker delivers 50 per cent more sound power at 30W.
Even if that’s not enough for you, Monster’s Party Mode lets you connect and sync other DNA speakers with the push of a button – a physical button on the speaker, so no apps is required here.
To tempt you into a multi-speaker setup, Monster is offering a 25% off coupon for a second DNA speaker. Both DNA speakers feature an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, omnidirectional audio, and a 30-foot Bluetooth range.
The DNA One and DNA Max are available now from Monster for $149.99 and $179.99 respectively. You can also buy them at BestBuy, Verizon, and Crutchfield. The speakers are available in black or white and join the DNA Fit and DNA Go wireless headphones in the range.
