The fact that this model only supports wireless networks in portable mode is a problem when the console cannot find the Red Wi-Fi that we want to connect to, something that, unfortunately, is common. But, with the launch of update 18.0.1 that Nintendo has just released, we can now speak in the past tense.
Goodbye to Switch Wi-Fi connectivity issues
The updates that manufacturers periodically release for the Operating systems of their products, they don’t just focus on adding new features and improving stability. They are also used to troubleshoot operating problems that may arise.
In the case of the Nintendo Switch, one of the most irritating problems is that sometimes the console was not able to detect certain Wi-Fi network located within range of the console, limiting connectivity possibilities to locally installed games.
While it is true that some users, especially those with more knowledge, could get around the problem by manually adding the SSID, this is not something that all users can or know how to do. Fortunately, as we can read in the update details of Nintendo Switch which the Japanese firm has just launched, this problem is now a thing of the past.
After installing the update, according to Nintendo, the problem with the console when displaying Wi-Fi networks in range should have disappeared.
How to Update Nintendo Switch
The first thing we must do before updating the console is to load it so that it has a minimum of 50%, since they are not always updates that take up very little space and are installed in a few minutes and the worst that can happen is causes the console to shut down during the update. Another option is to put it on charge while we carry out the process.
Then, from the main Switch screen, click Console Settings, an icon represented by a gear wheel. In the Settings, in the left column, we look for the section Console and click to access it.
In the right section, at the very top, click Console update for the console to check for a new update and install it on the computer. In this specific case, update number 18.0.1 should be displayed, an update that Nintendo released to resolve Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
When the Switch checks if there is a new update on Nintendo’s servers, it will immediately download it and then automatically update the console, a process that we cannot undo at any time. Once the installation is complete, the console will restart and be ready for use again.
