Nobody Wants This is the romantic and heartwarming series of the fall season, having already garnered a huge following on social media since its debut in late September. The show follows a sex podcaster, Joanne, and a rabbi, Noah, who meet at a bar.
Despite that ridiculous description, this series won viewers’ hearts — with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody having off-the-charts chemistry and Timothy Simons and Justine Lupe providing hilarious sidekick energy…plus, Brody’s hot call from the rabbi (helped by his previous role in The OC) certainly helped with the publicity.
If you’ve watched all ten episodes of Nobody Wants This, you’ll know that the story was left on a big cliffhanger. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up everything we know about Netflix’s plans to renew it.
Will there be a season 2 of Nobody Wants This?
Yes! Variety confirmed that there was will be a
Creator Erin Foster gave the following quote at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles:
The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives have all made this series the show it is today, and learning about viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has was more than anything I could have dreamed of. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story.
However, Foster will simply become an executive producer, handing showrunner duties to Girls alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan.
The series has received both audience and critical acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes, scoring 90% and 94% respectively at the time of writing. Netflix also wrote an article about the end of season 1, referring to Joanne and Noah’s “future.”

When could Nobody Wants This season 2 be released?
We may not have to wait too long for Nobody Wants This season 2 if the production schedule for the first season is consistent with the production schedule for the first season.
The series was greenlit by Netflix on March 1, 2023, while filming began in March 2024 – the series was then released six months later.
Obviously, we don’t know where the Season 2 storyline stands, but filming doesn’t seem to take much time. Therefore, if the drafting is finalized early next year, there’s a chance no one wants this to come back by summer 2025 as soon as possible.
Who could star in Nobody Wants This season 2?
Netflix has not confirmed a cast list for season 2. However, Foster told The Wrap that Kristen Bell and Adam Brody would be open to returning as Joanne and Noah, respectively.
We could also see the following actors return:
- Justine Lupe as Morgan
- Timothy Simons as Sasha
- Stephanie Faracy as Lynn
- Tovah Feldshuh as Bina
- Paul Ben-Victor as Ilan
- Jackie Tohn as Esther
- Emily Arlook as Rebecca
- Sherry Cola as Ashley
- Shiloh Bearman as Miriam
- Stephen Tobolowsky as Rabbi Cohen
What could the plot of Nobody Wants This season 2 be about?
We expect the series to pick up shortly after the events of the first season – spoilers for the end of episode 10 below!
Joanne and her sister made an unexpected appearance at Noah’s niece’s Bat Mitzvah, although they initially faked illness to get through it. Once she learned of Rebecca’s lies about her and Noah staying in contact, she decided to show her face.

After arriving, she announces to Noah that she is happy to convert to Judaism – which he said was crucial for a serious relationship and would allow him to be promoted to chief rabbi.
However, after learning of the responsibilities that come with being a rabbi’s wife, she turns around, honestly stating that it’s not what she wants. She ends the relationship and leaves.
In true romantic style, Noah chases her down to kiss her, proving that he still wants to be with her after all.
But what does this mean? Well, Brody told Tudum that the kiss was his way of saying, “I’m putting you first.” Everything else will take care of itself, but I say you are my priority.
While this may have seemed like an impulsive idea, it’s a theme that will be central to the complexities of Joanne and Noah’s relationship moving forward. As Brody explains in the same article: “I think that’s what the show can explore. What should he do? What should she do? Which version of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what constitutes going dark to be with someone else?
It’s a sacrifice, but ideally you grow together and are better off for it – you don’t need to let go of a limb.
Another big storyline in season 2 could be the budding friendship between Morgan and Sasha. Timothy Simons expands on this point in the same article: “…it makes sense that whatever the connection between loser siblings is, it’s a connection…They’re the ones trying to figure out what that connection actually means or what ‘there is behind that. They can’t deny that there is one, but what’s underneath?
The situation is made more complicated by Sasha’s wife, Esther, who is very threatened by Morgan and his sister. Jackie Tohn further explains her character’s state of mind towards the end of the first season: “…from Esther’s point of view, the wheels are falling off.
There are secrets that happened. I don’t know how deep they are, and until the end of the season, we don’t find out. What really happened? How far away are they?
Therefore, it’s possible that we could see a potential fallout between Sasha and Esther as he and Morgan get closer.
Will there be a season 3 of Nobody Wants That?
No confirmation has been given on the future of Nobody Wants This beyond season 2. However, creator Erin Foster told IndieWire the following:
I think conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential season 2. The story of season 1 is unfolding very slowly. And so I think if there’s a season 2, I would just want to pick up where we left off and continue to take it slowly, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air for as long as possible!
So, the creator has plans for what appears to be multiple seasons – plus, the early renewal of Season 2 could be a good sign that this series will continue for many years to come.
