OnePlus Nord 5: In summary
- The next OnePlus mid -range phone, likely to launch this summer
- Could be based on a Chinese model called Ace 5 Racing
- Leaks suggest great performance and battery upgrades
In 2024, the technological advisor crowned the Nord 4 OnePlus as the best mid -range phone of the year.
However, this is the pace of the mid -range telephone market, it was quickly exceeded in 2025, including by the latest Google Pixel 9a.
Will OnePlus be able to find his crown in 2025? The next North 5 is expected soon, and it could include many upgrades. Here is everything we know so far.
When will the northern one north 5 be released?
In summary
- Chinese version scheduled for launch on May 27
- World launch could follow in June
- Unlikely American availability
Judging by recent models, a new generation of the northern OnePlus should soon be released. But while North 3 was launched in July 2023 and North 4 arrived in July 2024, North 5 could arrive a little earlier.
A report suggests that a global launch could take place in June, while another said in early May that “ad is in the near future”.
Until now, the only proof that we have is the appearance of a device known only under the name of “CPH2079” on the database of TUV Rheinland, a German company known for its product tests. Although it is not confirmed, some sites speculate that this could be the next north 5.
If this is the case, an appearance in the database would suggest a launch in the near future, but it could easily be delayed.
In particular, the ACE 3V has been renamed and modified for international markets as Nord 4. Without ACE 4V (number 4 is considered unlucky in China), this trend suggests that ACE 5V could be launched worldwide under the North brand 5.
However, there is a chance that it is ACE 5 Racing, which is launched on May 27. The presence of the same rumor chipset as northern 5 suggests that the models are aligned.

But unlike the 13 and 13R, even a global launch is unlikely to include the United States. Although all previous phones in the main North series are available in the United Kingdom, OnePlus tends to jump the United States with its mid-range devices.

How much will the northern one cost 5?
In summary
- North 5 likely to have a starting price similar to North 4 (£ 429 / $ 499)
- No specific price rumors
Based on the previous models, we expect the Nord 5 OnePlus should be placed in the category of less than £ 500 / $ 500.
There may be a few small increases compared to the £ 429 / $ 499 from the North 4, but OnePlus will want it to remain competitive with the £ 499 / $ 499 Google Pixel 9a.
However, there are no concrete leaks or rumors concerning the prices at this stage,
What specifications and features will NORTH 5 ONPLUS 5 have?
In summary
- A design similar to the northern neplus 4 is likely
- New Dimensity 9400E Chipset
- Large upgrades of the expected battery
The northern OnePlus 5 should not be far away. Many leaks concerning the phone itself and the OnePlus Ace 5 race, on which North 5 should be based, have emerged. Here are the key points you need to know.
Design
North 4 introduced a metal monohull design, offering a superior quality sensation and improved durability compared to its predecessor. It also included a coast of resistance to water and dust IP65, an alert cursor and a unique rear design.
The only rumor of concrete that we have so far indicates that the phone will include a glass folder and a plastic frame. It would be a downgrading compared to the North 4, which has a metal frame.

The Chinese phone known as the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing edition, on which North 5 could be based, suggests a vertical range of cameras that resembles phones in the Galaxy S25 series.
It is also very unlikely that North 5 does not keep the popular alert cursor, as OnePlus has confirmed that it will be rid of it. It remains to be seen with which the company will replace it, if necessary.

Display
The OLED Full HD + 120 Hz display of 6.74 inch from the North 4 is one of its exceptional characteristics, offering vibrant colors and deep blacks.
Until now, the reports suggest that the North Race 5 (and ACE 5, on which it can be based) will adopt an HD + OLED screen full with a 120 Hz refresh rate. As such, all potential improvements must still be revealed.

Performance
North 4 was powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, associated with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. During our examination, although he offered solid performance, especially in daily tasks, he showed limits with intensive games.

However, North 5 should skip the ship for Mediaterk – in particular, the Dimensity 9400E, which has just launched. It is a slightly less powerful version of the flagship dimensity 9400, but solid performance is always likely.
Nothing has been revealed regarding RAM or internal storage, we cannot assume that OnePlus will be held at the 12 + 256 GB and 16 + 512 GB options 4.

Cameras
The cameras of the North 4 were a mixed bag, with a main lens of 50 Mp offering excellent results in good lighting, but a disappointing ultra-refaction and the absence of a left telephoto lens from the place to improvement.
Unfortunately, it does not seem that these are discussed, at least on the material side. North 5 would stick to the 50MP's main lens and 8MP, while also corresponding to north 4 with a 16MP selfie camera.
His successor would present the same 50MP sensor, but there is still no sign of telephoto lens at the back.

On the software side, IA improvements like “IA Best Face” could become more important for a better photography experience.

Battery and load
With a 5500mAh battery, North 4 offers excellent autonomy. It supports the 100 W wired load, although a charger in the box is missing.

Although the load speeds should stay the same, we could be in a large increase in battery capacity. The reports suggest that we could be in a 7000mah or even 7500mAh cell, although it is not clear if this is done using new silicon-carbon battery technology.
Nothing has been revealed concerning the wireless load, which is one of the notable omissions of the North 4.

Software
Execution of Oxygenos 14.1 on the basis of Android 14, North 4 offers friendly experience with six years of security updates and four main updates of the operating system.
North 5 will probably be shipped with Oxygenos 15 based on Android 15, although the equivalent of Android 16, hopefully, will not be too far. Hopefully we will be able to see new improvements to the commitment to update software, but there are no rumors suggesting that this will be the case.
It is not clear if we will see new features of AI. Potentially, some of those of the OnePlus 13 could be deployed.
We will update this article when we learn something new. In the meantime, see our guide from the best mid -range phones to see what the Nord 5 will be faced.
