The story of Birmingham’s gangsters is far from over. Thanks to Netflix, Peaky Blinders will be back in a feature-length film exploring what happens next to Tommy Shelby and his fiery family.
Created by the BBC, the series was a huge success and thrust Cillian Murphy, who played the leader of the Peaky Blinders gang, into the spotlight. Audiences immediately fell in love with Tommy Shelby, a tough, cunning and smartly dressed character, as he navigated the gangster world of post-World War I England.
Of course, Tommy wasn’t the only great character on the show. The sinister world of Peaky Blinders was populated with many fascinating personalities, such as Aunt Polly (Helen McCrory), Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) and Alfie Solomon (Tom Hardy).
Interestingly, the show revived interest in 1920s fashion: the iconic gangster outfits of tailored suits, overcoats and flat caps caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts.
Considering all of the above, it is no wonder that Netflix decided to create a movie spin-off of the series. To recreate the atmosphere of the film, some well-known names were hired to work on the film. The screenplay for the Peaky Blinders movie was written by the creator of the series, Steven Knight, while Tom Harper was hired as the director.

What is the plot of the movie Peaky Blinders?
The film will be a direct sequel to the series, but plot details remain under wraps for now.
Peaky Blinders ended in 2022, and the season 6 finale could be described as enigmatic. After leading a battle against the IRA and killing Michael, Tommy, suffering from a lung tumor, decides to commit suicide. However, he is dissuaded from this step by the ghost of his deceased daughter Ruby, thanks to whom Tommy realizes that the diagnosis he was given was wrong.
In the final scene of Season 6, Tommy rides off into the hills on a white horse, leaving his burning wagon behind, determined to start a new life.
It is not yet known whether the film will pick up the story right after the end of the series or if there will be a time jump. However, we will undoubtedly see Tommy return to the gangster life.

Barry Keoghan is another interesting addition to the cast. The Irish actor, whose career exploded after memorable performances in The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, has been cast in an undisclosed role.
Netflix has yet to announce which actors from the series will reprise their roles, however, we expect the film to feature:
- Paul Anderson like Arthur Shelby Jr.
