PlayStation is celebrating its 25th anniversary

25th, anniversary, celebrating, PlayStation

On December 3, 1994, 25 years ago this week, the first PlayStation made its worldwide draw in Japan. Starting modestly as an emerging company within Sony, Ken Kutaragi and his team envisioned developing video games as a form of entertainment for everyone, creating a platform for video game developers to express their creativity. The original PlayStation sold 100,000 units in Japan on its first day and became the first home console of more than 100 million units sold worldwide.

We got in touch with the gamer community because PlayStation provided an experience beyond what you believed possible in the home console. From the beginning, we opened our hands to the developer, providing them with the tools and technology to create beautiful and expanding worlds, and to create new ideas. That approach has led to the variations of the game known as PlayStation, which is a real name for many generations of hardware platforms.

For the last 25 years, PlayStation has been at the forefront, and I have been honored to be part of the team since the early days. While helping establish a business in Europe, I remember starting from scratch on many things, from hiring staff to buying furniture. At the time, we focused on using local markets to make the player in Poland feel part of the wider PlayStation community, as did a player in the United Kingdom, Japan or the United States. Supported by passionate fans around the world, our business has grown significantly and our focus on the community is more important than ever.

Indeed it's fun They are fans who grew up on PlayStation and passed on their love for video games to their kids, who now play PS4.

On behalf of all of us on PlayStation, thank you for living with us in this way. We can't wait for the celebration that comes with you all!
