Our Verdict
This is one of the best multi-function air fryers we’ve tested. It offers more cooking methods than most of its competitors and does almost everything to a very high standard. It is also powerful and produces good food.
ProCook is a UK-based kitchenware brand that has recently expanded its range of electrical appliances to include air fryers, blenders, mixers and much more.
Its stylish air fryer health grill can, of course, air fry – but it can also do so much more. Find out if it’s the right buy for you in our full review.

The ProCook Air Fryer Health Grill is larger than it looks in the photos. It is a large shell-shaped device, measuring 40 x 40 x 28 cm. You’ll need plenty of counter space to set it up – and if you put it close to the wall, you’ll need to pull it forward to open the lid when you want to use it. Its height won’t be a problem, however: it can easily open under standard kitchen cabinets.
It’s made from high-quality stainless steel and plastic, and its curved shape makes it an attractive addition to the countertop – a good thing because at 10kg, you won’t want to move it once you’ve found a place for it.
Like most multicookers, it comes with a set of accessories to transform the way you use it. It includes a pot with half-ridged bottom for grilling, a vegetable basket, a grill and a glass lid. The pan and basket have a non-stick finish and all the accessories are well made and dishwasher safe. ProCook even adds a cleaning brush. Still, there’s nowhere in or on the device to store the extras, so you’ll have to store them in a cupboard.

The health grill has a digital display and dial and button operation. It has 12 cooking functions in total: air fry, roast, grill, bake, dehydrate, slow cook, griddle, stew, steam, keep warm, grill and preheat. The controls are easy to use, too: use the dial to select a cooking method, then adjust the time and temperature as needed. Many cooking methods feature automatic preheating when they start, but it’s easy to turn it off if you want. There is also a manual mode.

One thing you may have noticed is that although this appliance is not sold in the United States, it uses – very oddly – American culinary terminology. Many people in the UK are unfamiliar with the words hotplate and grill, so clearer instructions on how to use these settings would be welcome.
As a guide, broiling is a lot like grilling, with intense heat cooking food from above – although the ProCook also has a separate grill function. Baking uses heat from above and below.
Most multicookers specialize in dry (air frying, roasting, grilling) or wet (stewing, slow cooking, steaming) cooking, but you can prepare almost anything with the air fryer ProCook, using any cooking method possible. Its main limitation is its size and shape: you won’t fit an entire pizza in it, for example. But that’s true for most air fryers.
There is also a clear emphasis on fresh food and home cooking; there is no defrost mode, for example. There’s also no shake/turn alert halfway through a cooking program. But the alerts you receive are of a good volume: unlike some competitors, they are not deafeningly loud.

One of the few problems with the ProCook is the fact that it only comes with flimsy instructions to explain how to use it. There’s more help on the ProCook website, where some recipes are hidden beneath the appliance’s product information, but you’re unlikely to think to look there or remember where to find them when you cook.
The lack of information provided means that you will have to decide which accessory to use with each cooking method (not difficult), but also determine the best cooking time and temperature (more difficult).
The ProCook Air Fryer grill seems to be more efficient than many other models and when I first started using it, I was regularly overcooking everything, turning all sorts of foods into dried out pellets.
If you’re using a standard air fryer, the first thing I suggest is turning off the preheat function when air frying – or reducing your cooking time by at least five minutes.
But once you master healthy grill cooking, I think you’ll be impressed. The pot has a large cooking area of 33 x 22 cm, which provides enough space for a roast meat, a family portion of roast potatoes, a stew, a grilled breakfast or a pile of chips .
There is not enough space to prepare a full dinner for a large family. However, for singles, couples, or young families, this is one of the best air fryer multicookers I’ve tested. It’s so versatile. You can make a different type of dinner in it every night of the week without ever having to resort to your oven.
One of the first tests involved roasting a piece of beef – and, being a first test, I slightly overcooked it. If you want to roast or grill meat regularly, you will need to invest in a meat probe. The ProCook Air Fryer’s grill doesn’t come with one – unlike similar Ninja appliances, such as its Healthy Grill and its latest Double Drawer Air Fryer.
I also made a stew. Using the plancha function, I was able to brown the onions in the pot, although as the lid has to be closed during cooking, it wasn’t as easy to stir them as on a hob. Yet they cooked evenly and quickly.

I then changed the cooking mode, set it for one hour, added the rest of the stew ingredients and placed the glass lid on top. It simmered slowly and never seemed to reach the boiling temperature that one would quickly achieve on a stovetop. But it cooked perfectly and was surprisingly delicious and flavorful – even though I made it from whatever ingredients I could scrounge up from the fridge.

Even if the stews cook well, the sauces probably wouldn’t. This is partly due to the wide, flat shape of the pot, which creates too much surface area for cooking lower volumes, and partly due to the half-ridged base of the pot, which is not ideal for stirring a hearty sauce .

But in reality, it’s nitpicking to talk about the one thing it can’t do, when it does so many other things so well: roasting, simmering, steaming, slow cooking.
And of course, the main event. Not all air fryers are created equal and some fail to crisp up well. This is not the case with the ProCook which reliably prepares crispy foods: skin-on chips freshly made from quickly cooked potato slices and came out with a soft interior and crispy skin.
The proCook is so versatile. You can make a different type of dinner in it every night of the week without ever having to resort to your oven.
And when you’re done cooking, it’s easy to clean, too. The thermal coil is covered in a splash guard, which you can simply remove and clean, and all accessories can be thrown in the dishwasher – although for longevity we recommend using the included brush to gentle cleaning.

Pricing and availability
The ProCook Air Fryer Healthy Grill is only available from ProCook in the UK. It is not available in the United States. It’s priced at £179, making it good value for its quality and features. It’s the same price as Ninja’s Health Food Grill, which has similar high-quality construction and cooking area but fewer cooking modes.

Should you buy the ProCook air fryer health grill?
If you live alone, as a couple, or have a young family, this is one of the best air fryers you can buy. It ticks a lot of boxes in terms of ease of use and versatility and, above all, produces very good food.
