After a thrilling finale atop a volcano, the celebrity edition of Race Across the World has finally come to an end.
The spin-off series took viewers to South America, with four couples trekking from the Amazon in Brazil to the Andes in Chile. Earlier this year, the main series travelled to Asia, with five couples attempting to travel from Japan to Indonesia.
The show is a great way to discover parts of the world that might not have been on your radar before, and to think about how best to approach a race on a budget. But when will the BBC hit return? We’ve rounded up everything we know so far.

Is Race Across the World Coming Back for Season 5?
Good news: Race Across the World is coming back! The show has been renewed for another season and registrations opened earlier this year (although they are now unfortunately closed).
When could Race Across the World season 5 be released?
The BBC has not confirmed when the series will return. However, the last few main seasons have aired in March or April. Based on this, We expect Race Across the World to air on BBC One in spring 2025.

Do we know the route of season 5 of Race Across the World?
No courses have been confirmed for the next season of Race Across the World. However, we can look back at previous episodes to potentially rule out other areas:
- Series 1: From London to Marina Bay (Checkpoints in Greece, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, China, Cambodia and Singapore)
- Series 2: From Mexico to Ushuaia (Checkpoints in Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil)
- Series 3: Vancouver to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (checkpoints all in Canada)
- Celebrity Series 1: From Marrakech to Tromsø (Checkpoints in Portugal, France, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Norway)
- Series 4: From Sapporo to Gili Meno (Checkpoints in Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia)
- Celebrity Series 2: From Belém to Frutillar (Checkpoints in Brazil, Argentina and Chile)
Key places that were not visited on this list include the United States, Africa and OceaniaOf course, there are also large areas of Europe and Asia that have remained untouched.
South America seems very unlikely, given that several countries have already been visited twice.
