While Nvidia has rounded out its line of graphics cards based on its GeForce Ampere architecture with RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti for laptops, AMD continues to roll out its RX 6000, the next GPUs to launch the RX 6600, which fit the mid- low and will compete with the NVIDIA RTX 3060 launched a few months ago. We already know a ton of details about the upcoming AMD gaming graphics cards and we only need the official announcement from AMD in which we will know both the launch date and the price.
AMD RX 6600 (XT) Appears in Latest AMD Drivers
Thanks to the already reputable insider Komachi Ensaka, we were able to know that the AMD RX 6600 and AMD RX 6600 XT were included in the latest AMD drivers, under the code AMD73FF.1 in the case of the AMD RX 6600 XT, AMD73FF .2 if we are talking about the portable version and AMD73FF.3 in the case of the AMD RX 6600.
The coding tells us that the chip used in all three cases is the same, Navi 23, which we already knew, as well as its final specifications of 32 compute units and 28 compute units for the RX 6600 XT and RX 6600 respectively. We can confirm this by seeing how the AMD RX 6800M which is based on the Navi 22 GPU and not the Navi 21 as it happens on the desktop has the same code as the RX 6700 XT. The information also confirms that we are going to see two different graphics cards and not a single one as happened with the RX 6700 XT which has not yet had its non-XT version.
We know that the RX 6600 XT is going to have an 8 GB GDDR6 configuration as a VRAM, but the RX 6600 does not yet know in which memory configuration it will appear, with 4 GB GDDR6 or 8 GB GDDR6. Although we know the configuration to which the most advanced model will come out, since it was disclosed through the certification requests to the ECC that we are going to see 8 GB models.
Its launch is getting closer
The fact that these models were included in the latest pilots indicates that their launch is very close in time. Although AMD has not given any release date for its presentation it should not be long waited, it is furthermore AMD could launch these graphics cards by surprise overnight without notice.
What we don’t know is that the two variants will be released simultaneously or at different times. In the case of not being done simultaneously, it is not necessary to wait long between one version and another. In any case, the last secret revealed by AMD is its price.
