After an initial failed attempt, Google has resumed rolling out a major free software update to its Pixel Watch line of wearables.
Notably, the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 are now updated to Wear OS 5, Google’s latest smartwatch operating system.
The upgrade was suspended in September after users began experiencing blank screens.
“The rollout will continue over the next week in phases depending on carrier and device. Users will receive a notification on their watch as soon as the software update is available for their device,” Google said in a community update.
The upgrade is now part of the November update that includes the Pixel Watch 3, but that device ships with Wear OS 5 and therefore only receives security updates and bug fixes.
Wear OS 5 firmware update for Pixel Watch 1 and Pixel Watch 2 includes new features, bug fixes, and performance updates, as well as “Play Store updates for game controls.” Enhanced Camera and Pixel Recorder are also available.
