Expert rating
Benefits
- Good cleaning results, both when vacuuming and cleaning
- Good access for mopping along edges and corners
- Easy to use and convenient application
Disadvantages
- Obstacle detection leaves a lot to be desired
- No FlexiArm side brush
Our Verdict
Roborock Q Revo MaxV is a powerful robot vacuum cleaner that delivers solid vacuuming and cleaning performance. With 7,000Pa suction power, an efficient rubber brush and dual rotating pulley mop system, plus FlexiArm technology for better edge cleaning, it achieves impressive results. Obstacle detection could have been better, but if you're okay with putting small items away before cleaning, it's a good choice for the price.

The differences between an expensive robot vacuum cleaner and a cheaper robot vacuum cleaner are numerous. So-called flagship models from the most established manufacturers can quickly identify obstacles and smoothly avoid them. They can empty themselves of dust and dirty water, and the cleaning function is now truly impressive – both in terms of performance and ability to clean hard-to-reach areas such as corners and the edges.
If you choose an entry-level model, you will get a machine that can handle the same tasks with some effort. The suction power is considerably lower and you can expect it to occasionally gobble up a sock or two, often leading to downtime. If it has a mop function, it's a simpler version – usually just a mop pad that trails behind, applying only light pressure.

Good models at a reasonable price
Between these extremes we find models that offer many of the features and technologies of the high-end models, albeit in simpler versions, but at a lower price. Dreame offers its L series in various configurations (including the L40 Ultra, which we reviewed), and Roborock offers its Q Revo, also in several variants, along with the MaxV, a new, more advanced model.
The MaxV is a new addition to the Q Revo range
.
Roborock
We recently tested its sibling, the Roborock Q Revo Slim – a very nice machine that works well overall, but was particularly impressive when it came to the cleaning function. It has two rotating pads instead of the vibrating “scouring pad” that was standard just a year ago, even on high-end models.
Dreame was an early adopter of this solution, which I consider to be a much more effective solution, and it is only positive that Roborock is now implementing the same technology in more and more models.
More advanced than his brother
Yet when reviewing the Q Revo Slim, we found its obstacle detection and avoidance to be hit or miss, despite 3D scanning with structured light supposedly suited for this purpose.
MaxV, meanwhile, has a more advanced system that combines structured light with an RGB camera to detect objects faster and more effectively – according to Roborock, objects as small as 5 cm wide and 3 cm high. This looks promising.
Containers for clean and dirty water, unfortunately none for detergent.
Andreas Bergsmann
The base station, measuring 34 x 48.7 x 52.1 cm, contains a vacuum cleaner bag, a clean water tank and a dirty water tank. However, there is no container for detergent, like the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra has for example. The base station also automatically cleans the robot's mops at different intervals (depending on the settings you choose) and dries them after each cleaning session.
Setting up and mapping your home is done in no time, and you can easily divide rooms and add different zones if you want. Plus, the app is really user-friendly and offers plenty of customization options, depending on the layout of your home and how intense you want the cleaning to be.
Personalized cleaning
For example, you can choose to avoid carpets altogether or include them in cleaning: it will automatically lift its mops when the robot detects a carpet. The wash water temperature can be adjusted from room temperature to warm (up to 60 degrees), and the robot can return to a specific spot for another pass with the mop if it deems the surface particularly dirty .
User-friendly and well-designed application.

A nice additional feature is that you can remotely activate the robot's camera to check its status. With the built-in microphone and speaker, you can even have two-way communication with people at home when you're away or check on your pets.
The suction power is 7000 Pa. Paired with the spiral pattern rubber brush, it does a great job taking care of dust bunnies, bread crumbs, and other debris. The mop system, with its two rotating pulleys, also works very well.
The MaxV also features Roborock's FlexiArm technology, where the straight mop is angled over edges, around furniture and into corners. This is a solution we've seen on several Dreame machines in the past, and it's certainly a big improvement when it comes to accessing hard-to-reach areas. If the MaxV had also inherited the side brush from the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, which has similar technology, it would have been a complete success.
Obstacle detection – still the Achilles heel
Obstacle detection is a shortcoming of the Q Revo MaxV. The keychain was swallowed without hesitation.
Andreas Bergsmann
And then there was the problem of object identification and avoidance. Sure, it works better than previous models, but we're still far from perfect. A sock thrown on the ground was identified in a flash and the robot beautifully rounded it like a ballet dancer. But my set of keys? Completely ignored and crushed mercilessly. During the same cleaning session, he also managed to drag an audio cable which, for some unfathomable reason, had ended up under the TV bench.
So yes, it's definitely an improvement, but it's still nowhere near the level of the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra or the Dreame L40 Ultra.
