Samsung may be responsible for some of the most well-known Android flagships, but the company isn’t just focused on high-end devices.
In fact, mid-range offerings like the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 are some of the most popular phones sold.
And it’s easy to understand why. Although they are both mid-range phones, they offer a lot of bang for your buck, especially if you’re a fan of the One UI software and have invested in the Samsung ecosystem.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that the Galaxy A35 is one of the most anticipated mid-range phones. Here’s everything we know so far about it.
When will the Samsung Galaxy A35 be released?
Samsung generally keeps a consistent schedule for its phone releases. March is usually the time for their mid-range offerings, as the Galaxy A5X and A3X series usually release on this date.
Dutch site GalaxyClub suggests “spring 2024” as a potential release date, which would match previous generation launches:
- Galaxy A32 – February 2021
- Galaxy A33 – March 2022
- Galaxy A34 – March 2023
Even though it’s not February or March, the Galaxy A35 will likely arrive in 2024.
However, while none of the above models have been released in the United States, it looks like that’s about to change.
The FCC in the United States has certified the Galaxy A35 with model numbers SM-A356U, SM-A356U1, SM-A356V, and SM-A356E. The first three represent the locked, unlocked, and Verizon versions of the phone designed specifically for the US market, while the last is the global version.
A recent entry in Geekbench 5 also seems to confirm that the Galaxy A35 with model number SM-A356U will be on the way soon.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy A35 cost?
The Samsung Galaxy A34 was an instant success because it combined very decent specifications with an affordable price.
We don’t expect this to change, although there is no concrete information regarding pricing at this point. Let’s take a look at the prices of some of the previous models to see where we stand:
- Samsung Galaxy A32 – £249
- Samsung Galaxy A33 – £329
- Samsung Galaxy A34 – £349
As you can see, the prices of the Galaxy A3X series have been increasing steadily, as the phone has slowly moved from a budget device to a lower mid-range. This is the result of global inflation, but also the improvement of hardware over time.
Further price increases are possible, but expect to pay at least the Galaxy A34’s starting price of £349 for the A35 in the UK.
However, we don’t know how much the Galaxy A35 might cost in the US. Looking at the conversion rate, the price of the phone could be around $440.
What specifications and features will the Samsung Galaxy A35 have?
At the time of writing, the Galaxy A35 has still not been officially announced. However, we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect:
Design
Android Headlines has published leaked renders of the Galaxy A35, revealing three of the likely colors: Awesome Ice Blue, Awesome Lilac, and Awesome Navy.
They also show a shift in Samsung’s design language with a more contemporary facade and the distinctive “Key Island” design element. The phone’s frame appears to feature a flat design, except at the side buttons, where it protrudes slightly.
The Galaxy A35 also appears to feature a plastic frame with a brushed metal finish, unlike previous rumors of a metal frame. Notably, there are none of the visible antenna lines typically found on phones with metal frames, but it will feel less premium than Samsung’s flagships.
On the back, the phone has three cameras and an LED flash.
Display
The Galaxy A34 already comes with the best-in-class 6.6-inch AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate. We might see a slight increase in screen brightness, but that’ll probably be it.
What’s encouraging, however, is the fact that the phone finally appears to feature a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, an improvement over the Galaxy A34’s U-shaped notch.
The screen edges also appear thinner than those of the Galaxy A34, a positive change, although the bottom one appears slightly thicker than the other three sides.
Performance
Performance was the main differentiator between the Galaxy A34 and the Galaxy A54.
While the A54 benefited from Samsung’s upgraded Exynos 1380, the A34 was stuck with the older MediaTek Dimensity 1080. But that could change with the next generation.
A recent Geekbench 5 listing (believed to be the Galaxy A35) suggests that the phone will feature the Exynos 1380 chip and 6GB of RAM. The device will likely also come in 128GB and 256GB storage variants.
In terms of performance, it scored 697 points in the single-core test and 2332 points in the multi-core test. As a reminder, the Galaxy A34 received 2312 points in our multi-core test, so this could be a small step forward.
Given that the phone is equipped with the ‘s5e8835’ motherboard, this seems to confirm that the Galaxy A35 is indeed powered by the Exynos 1380 chip, as opposed to the expected Exynos 1480. will be announced Galaxy A55.
But whichever chip will be responsible for the Galaxy A35’s processing power, we expect to see an improvement in performance.
Cameras
Another important factor that distinguished the Galaxy A34 from the Galaxy A54 was its cameras, especially the main shooter.
According to GalaxyClub, the A35 will be equipped with the same 50MP main sensor as that of the Galaxy A54. While rumors of upgrades to the Galaxy A55 mean it wouldn’t share this lens, the A35 should get a nice boost to its photography capabilities.
However, it’s not yet clear what the other rear lenses will look like – the Galaxy A34’s 8Mp ultrawide and 2Mp macro could both benefit from improvements. We also don’t know if there will be any changes to the 13Mp selfie lens.
Of course, there will always be differences in their secondary cameras. The Galaxy A35 is still expected to feature an 8 MP ultra-wide lens and a 5 MP macro lens, as well as a rather underwhelming 13 MP front-facing camera. At least the main objective could benefit from a significant upgrade.
Battery and charging
So far, there is no information about battery or charging changes for the Galaxy A35.
Unless we hear anything, an unchanged situation from the Galaxy A34 is most likely: a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W wired charging, but no wireless charging.
It’s also worth noting that you’ll probably still have to do without a charging brick in the box.
Software
The latest Geekbench 5 entry also seems to confirm that the A35 runs on Android 14, with One UI 6. It is highly likely that this is true as we are already after the official launch of the Galaxy S24 series that comes with the new system. exploitation. of the box.
Don’t expect the A35 to match the flagship Galaxy S24 series with seven years of updates. But a continuation of four years of OS updates and five years of security updates would still be impressive.
Connectivity
According to the FCC certification, the Galaxy A35 will have 5G, Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6 for connectivity options.
We will update this article once more information is revealed. In the meantime, our Galaxy A54 vs A34 comparison helps you decide which of the current generation is the better choice.
