The popular range of smartphones Samsung’s Galaxy S is arguably the closest rival to Apple’s equally popular iPhone.
That’s why Android fans eagerly await the announcement of the next generation every year. That’s all we know about what the Galaxy S22 would bring us.
Launch: when will the Samsung Galaxy S22 be released?
There is no confirmed date for the launch of the next generation Galaxy S, but many believe it will be January 2022. This would coincide with the first anniversary of the Galaxy S21 series, the usual interval between launches.
But it’s not as secure as in previous years, as the S21 series arrived a little earlier than expected. In previous generations, Samsung announced new models in February and released them at the end of the same month or early March.
Obviously, the pandemic has changed all production plans and the arrival of these models can also influence. For now, we think it will be in January, but don’t be surprised if Samsung is banking on the usual schedule.
The wait will be long after Samsung confirms that the Galaxy Note S21 will not be released this year and that the Galaxy S21 Ultra is S-Pen compatible instead.
Price: How much will the Samsung Galaxy S22 cost?
Again, there is no confirmation on the price. We believe that Samsung will continue with the same price range of the current series, as there is strong competition from premium smartphones Currently.
The S21 range has three models, which should remain in its successors. If Samsung decides to keep the prices going, the new devices could cost the following:
- Samsung Galaxy S22: from $ 859
- Samsung Galaxy S22 +: from $ 1,059
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: desde $ 1,259
Features: What specs will the Samsung Galaxy S22 have?
It’s too early to know what the Galaxy S22 models will look like, but there are already rumors circulating that can give us any idea of what improvements are said to be ahead.
Cameras
Surely the most talked about part of the Galaxy S22 is its cameras.
First, Telephone arena and other posts have echoed a rumor that the S22 Ultra has at least a 200 MP primary lens, which would be a big step up from the 12 MP sensor on the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + and the 108 MP sensor of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The Ice Universe leaker questioned this rumor and wrote in Weibo that it is “almost 100% confirmed that the Samsung S22 Ultra will not have 200 million pixels and will refine the third generation 108 MP sensor”.
But that wouldn’t be too big of a deal, as the S21 and S21 + (like the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Google Pixel 5) offer top-notch photography with just 12 MP sensors. They show that when it comes to cameras in smartphone, what matters most is the Software and not so much to have huge sensors.
On the other hand, another Korean publication reiterated that the main sensor will be 200 MP and added that it will be one of the five cameras in the Ultra model.
Beyond the Ultra, another leaker, Twitter user @FrontTront, assured that the S22 and S22 + could replace the main 12 MP lens with a 50 MP one.

This makes perfect sense, since Samsung presented its new 50 MP ISOCELL GN2 sensor last February. It should let in light better, uses Dual Pixel Pro autofocus technology, improves low-light images, and offers 8K video and enhanced HDR.
Tom’s Guide also published that the S22 models could gain a continuous zoom which would go from x3 to x10. This would compete with other similar technologies we’ve seen in the Sony Xperia 1 III’s periscope lens before.
Screen
Another area that has already started to speculate is the screen, especially on its size. The Mauri QHD filter claimed to know the sizes of the S22 series screens:

6.81 “

It makes sense that the Ultra is LTPO compatible since the S21 range reserves the screen of this type only for the Ultra model. This also makes it the only one to offer a variable refresh rate.
It is more surprising that the S22 and S22 + can have a smaller screen than the S21 and S21 +, with a size of 6.2 “and 6.7” respectively.
Instead, the Galaxy S22 Ultra would get a bit larger (6.81 “) compared to the 6.8” of the S21 Ultra. In addition, the Ultra should also be compatible with the S-Pen again like its predecessor.
Processors
The new mobiles should have the new chipset Exynos 2200, with AMD GPU. This makes sense, as the two companies have been working together for years.
Samsung Exynos Twitter account shared this quote from Lisa Su, CEO of AMD:
Have you seen this? “The next place you will find # RDNA2 will be the high performance mobile phone market. We’re happy to announce that we’ll be bringing a custom graphical IP to Samsung’s next flagship mobile SOC, with variable rate ray tracing and shading capabilities. @LisaSu of @AMD pic.twitter.com/c0z1iLl85r

Exynos chips are generally reserved for Europe and other territories, while US users could use the so-called Qualcomm Snapdragon 895.
Battery and charge
At the moment, few rumors have been said about the S22’s battery capacities, but there is one rumor that points to better charging.
The Ice Universe leaker posted on Weibo that the S22 would be tested under load at 25W, 45W or 65W.
Samsung has offered 45W charging before, but then brought it down to 25W with the S21 series. On the other hand, it has never offered 65W or more charging on its mobiles before and it is believed that this would not be the case in 2022 either.
Design and build
Finally, with regard to the construction of the new designs, according to GSM arena, the two smaller versions will use a new plastic material on the back, while the glass will be reserved for the S22 Ultra (as happened with the S21 series).
Recently, SamMobile has published that the new S22 models will use the vapor chamber cooling system again, which may be in line with other rumors that they are also thinner than the S21.
