The PC ecosystem no longer consists only of the PC itself, but also of all the peripherals that surround it, from the keyboard to the mouse to the chair. We’ve tested hundreds of devices, and that’s why we have a good basis to give you our personal opinion on which ones have surprised us the most throughout this year. Go for it.
The Corsair Darkstar Wireless blew us away
Honestly, at this point and having tested literally over a hundred different mice, it’s pretty hard for any new mouse to surprise us, but we have to admit that Corsair’s Darkstar Wireless did it, and for the better. For starters, it’s a wireless mouse with around 65 hours of battery life, which translates to more or less one charge per week and that’s using the equipment for several hours each day, but for a wireless mouse it’s also quite light, with around 96 grams of weight.
But neither its sensor, nor its autonomy nor its lightness are what made us choose it as one of the peripherals that surprised us the most of the year, but rather due to the large number of configurable buttons (including the 4D wheel) and their arrangement, in the shape of an inverted U and of considerable size. In general, we never liked mice for MMO/MOBA because they have too many buttons and it’s easy to make mistakes, but we honestly think that with this Darkstar Wireless Corsair we did things consciously .
The ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQDM is an OLED monitor to enjoy
2023 was the year of OLED panels, where they finally established themselves in the gaming market and not just in laptops, where we had already tested many OLED panels, but in desktop monitors. And the truth is that no matter how good a laptop is and no matter how great its OLED panel, you don’t know how the gaming experience changes when you do it on a 27″ screen. inches.
The truth is that it is something complicated to explain to you in text or with images, you have to see it in person to be able to see how impressive an OLED panel is. And of course, ASUS has done a memorable job with this PG27AQDM, in which they have integrated all the technology available today so that gamers can have the best possible gaming experience… and they have succeeded, without a doubt .
Corsair Virtuoso Pro, professional headphones disguised as gaming
If memory serves me correctly, the Virtuoso Pro are the highest rated headphones in the history of this website, and it’s no wonder because their performance is simply overwhelming. Corsair says these are gaming headphones, but the reality is that with their open circumaural design (they’re so comfortable you can wear them all day without issue) and their flat EQ because they’re analog headphones, they make of the audio experience a whole party.
And it is no longer because of its open design or its flat equalization, something that makes us listen to music, films and games exactly as the designer imagined them, but also because of its enormous response in frequency from 20 Hz to 40 KHz, much higher. than normal in the gaming ecosystem and that means we can enjoy Hi-Res sound at a ridiculous price (at least taking into account its professional quality).
The Hinomi H1 Pro V2 made me stop using gaming chairs
It’s another of the peripherals that surprised us the most this year, and for the better. Honestly, we had been using gaming chairs (from different manufacturers, ranges and prices) daily for at least 10 years and we had never considered using an “ugly” office chair… until we tried this one -this.
No matter how good and how many options a gaming chair gives you, it will never be able to reach the level that office chairs offer you, and even more so if they are high-end like in this case. Ultimately, if like me you spend many, many hours sitting in front of the PC, it’s something you’ll end up being grateful for… in my case, at least, I went two months without having to go to the physiotherapist, and there must be a reason.
And here are the peripherals that surprised us the most in 2023; You will surely miss the fact that we include a keyboard, but honestly and although we have analyzed several, none particularly caught our attention to include it in this list. The truth is that the keyboard ecosystem is already very tired and it is difficult to innovate in this regard.
And you, have you tried any peripherals this year that surprised you? We will be happy to read your comments.
