We finally know that the superhero series The Boys returns one more season on Amazon Prime Video.
And as we at PCWorld are superhero fans, we have scoured this entire galaxy called the Internet to find all the secrets and novelties of the Eric Kripke series.
So if you want to know more about the future of The Boys – and The Seven, of course – read on.
When will the third season of The Boys air?
The boys have yet to announce a scheduled premiere date for the third season. However, we can guess when it will be.
Jack Quaid – the actor who plays Hughie – confirmed in a tweet that filming for the third season of The Boys has already started:

According to a production listing on the industry union website IATSE 83, filming is slated to end in August of this year. However, with an ongoing global pandemic, there may be delays if a person tests positive for COVID.
In addition, the intervals between filming and airing in previous seasons were between nine and ten months. With all of that in mind, we expect the third season of The Boys to air in early 2022.
This is reinforced by the launch of the digital series Seven on 7 on YouTube. One of these videos will be posted each month. The first being released in July, the second is slated for release in January 2022. Will this coincide with the launch of the main series?
Is there a trailer for season 3 of The Boys?
With filming in progress, there is no trailer for the third season of The Boys. However, there is a first look at Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy which you can see below:

There’s also a new digital series called Vought News Network: Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman (via EW). The series stars Matthew Edison as host Cameron Coleman, who presents a “news series” that will fill in the plot gaps for the second season and secure the points for the third season. You can check out the first episode below:
What will happen in season 3 of The Boys?
Spoiler review for the second season of The Boys. If you are unaware of the plot, then don’t read on.
The second season of The Boys was explosive to say the least. The Seven’s next big bad – Stormfront – was literally shattered after Ryan (Becca and Homelander’s son) used his superpowers on her to try and protect her family.
Sadly, in the process, Becca (Butcher’s wife) was caught in the crossfire. Fortunately, Butcher intervened and took Ryan into custody, out of the clutches of Stand Edgar, Homelander, and Vought.
However, it is important to note that Stormfront is not dead and may still be hiding somewhere. We certainly haven’t seen the end of it.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that politician Victoria Neuman is the super secret that made people’s heads explode throughout the series. She seems to seek supreme power, but where are her loyalties, given that she was so outspoken against Vought and appears to be working with Hughie?
A-Train is back in The Seven (as is Starlight), but The Deep is lost again. the showrunner Kripke revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that The Deep now has revenge against the Church of the Collective and will spend most of season three preparing for revenge.
Hughie and Starlight are also back together – but with The Seven now more dangerous than ever, given that Homelander knows half the team is against him, we imagine there will be relationship issues.
Speaking of The Seven, all eyes are now on Stormfront’s replacement. It has been confirmed that he will be Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles of Supernatural.
Soldier Boy is a supe that has been around since WWII and will be brought in by Vought to help boost public morale for the superheroes once again following the PR disaster to reveal the Nazi origins of Stormfront.
Eric Kripke revealed in an interview that Soldier Boy will include “sex, violence and swear words,” so expect him to be as evil as the other members of The Seven.

There are even more superheroes joining the fight this season. The Wrap reported that Sean Patrick Flanery, Miles Gaston Villanueva and Nick Wechsler have been cast for Gunpowder, Blue Hawk and Supersonic. Gunpowder is inspired by Judge Dredd and has the ability to create and control guns.
The other two characters are new to the series, so we don’t know what their powers are. The name “Hawk” possibly means powers of flight, and Supersonic could be something related to sound waves.
Matthew Edison is also joining the cast for season three as VNN host Cameron Coleman. The actor already has a recurring role in a short digital series, also produced by Amazon.
Finally, we still do not know the origins and the mystery surrounding Black Noir. We are not going to reveal the big spoil of the comics, but we wonder if the series will go in the same direction, or will deviate completely from it. We may find out more in season three.
