Lionsgate has had no luck this summer. On the heels of the spectacular flop of Borderlands came another equally painful and unsurprising disaster. The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård and, for some reason, FKA Twigs, is a remake of a 90s cult classic—a remake that no one wanted and no one needed.
The original film The Crow, based on the book series by James O’Barr, became famous for its gothic atmosphere and the tragic death of its lead actor, Brandon Lee, who was accidentally shot and killed on set. His passing only added to the film’s legend and secured a special place in the hearts of its fans.
It seems Lionsgate missed the mark with a remake: fans of the original and a new generation of moviegoers seemed wary and unexcited by the idea of a new film. The movie did poorly at the box office, but could it redeem itself in a theatrical release? Here’s when and how you can watch it.
How to watch The Crow now
The remake of the 90s cult classic is available in US and UK cinemas.
If you want to see The Crow in theaters, you can book tickets at AMC theaters in the US and Vue, Cineworld, Odeon and Showcase in the UK.
Here is the trailer for the movie:
When will The Crow be released on VOD?
The disastrous remake of The Crow came out just after the flop of Borderlands, an adaptation of a series of post-apocalyptic games. Borderlands, starring Cate Blanchett, was critically and publicly acclaimed and did poorly at the box office. As a result, the film is set to hit VOD on August 30, just three weeks after its theatrical release.
If Lionsgate decides to go the same route with The Crow, we could see the film digitally as soon as September 13, 2024.
Note, however, that this is just a prediction, which has not yet been officially confirmed by Lionsgate.
When could The Crow be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Lionsgate films typically appear after their VOD release, but the waiting period varies.
Boy Kills World, another poorly-received film starring Bill Skarsgård, is still awaiting its DVD and Blu-ray release. In contrast, physical copies of the disappointing The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare were released two and a half months after its VOD release.
So if The Crow comes out on DVD and Blu-ray, it could happen in end of November 2024.

When could The Crow be released on streaming services?
Lionsgate typically releases its films to streaming services six months after their theatrical release. If the company sticks to that rule for The Crow, the film might not appear on Starz until end of February 2025A little later, the film will be released on Peacock.
The basic Starz subscription costs $8.99 per month or $74.99 per year, with a seven-day free trial. You can get the basic, ad-supported Peacock Premium subscription for $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year.
It is possible, however, that due to The Crow’s poor box office performance, Lionsgate will make an exception and release the film earlier. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
Songbirds & Snakes and Lionsgate’s John Wick 4 have both been released on Prime Video in the UK, so The Crow could also be released on that streaming service around February 2025. An Amazon Prime membership costs £8.99 per month, but new users can get a 30-day free trial.
