First introduced in 2015, AMD FreeSync technology is AMD's NVIDIA G-Sync system, and requires a brand name card, even though it works with third-party hardware. By January 2020, it is estimated that more than 1,000 observers have it, and are actually today incorporated into non-sports related products. Let's first see what it involves with broad strokes.
How does FreeSync technology work?
The eruption on the screen it is an unwanted effect (see photo above) that causes the image to look distorted, distorted and cut into objects. It is a result of the game frame rate (FPS) that does not match the screen refresh rate, and FreeSync's technical guards correct it by having a strong refresh rate – what allows to synchronize both values, to make the image look neat and tidy.
This frequency range is known as the FreeSync range and can be increased by the average monitor refresh rate. In other words, if the monitor has, for example, 48 to 144 Hz, the game will be able to run from 48 to 144 FPS without having any traumatic or stabbing effects, even if the FPS is unstable and constantly changing.
All FresSync models are based on VESA compatible sync system, so they work with DisplayPort (so it also works under USB-C) and HDMI. To employ your potential FreeSync Certificate, you must pass an AMD testing process that looks at your Adaptive Sync compatibility list, brightness, color gamut and other factors.
AMD FreeSync, Premium and premium Pro
These are the three types of degrees that this technology has. Basically and as you can see below, each jump incorporates all the features of the previous certificate and adds some improvements. For example, the difference between FreeSync Premium and Premium Pro is that the latter must be HDR compatible.
It's free | FreeSync Premium | FreeSync Premium Pro |
---|---|---|
There is no demolition | At least 120 Hz in Full HD resolution | HDR Support |
Low blink (blink) | Lowest Compensation (LFC) | At least 120 Hz in Full HD resolution |
Low latency | There is no demolition | Lowest Compensation (LFC) |
Low blink (blink) | There is no demolition | |
Low latency | Low blink (blink) | |
Low latency |
FreeSync Premium
While all FreeSync models fight screen tearing, blurring, and latency, FreeSync Premium improves on standard baseline specifications by adding the requirement that the monitor should be at least 120Hz refresh rate with full HD resolution.
It adds up compensation minimum frame rate (LFC), when the speed of the FPS falls below the minimum threshold level of the monitor, the frames are shown automatically more often to compensate. This means that the game will stay within the player's complimentary refreshment rating and give you the feeling of having a good gaming experience even under these circumstances.
Currently, according to AMD, there are over 300 FreeSync Premium monitors available.
FreeSync Premium Pro
This level of certification is also known as FreeSync 2 HDR, and is intended for HDR certified monitors. The display with the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro should be different from the free HDR screen for FreeSync because it offers low input latency as it shows a map of the playback tones displayed right on the screen.
In addition, the certificate promises even more 400 nits of light in HDR.
What technology should you choose for your gaming monitor?
As we mentioned earlier, today there are many monitors that promise to have FreeSync technology, and yet very limited. It is true that if you have an AMD graphics card compatible, you may understand the development of some games, but this will only be achieved if the drawings are able to maintain the frame rate per second equal to the monitor's refresh rate. If you go above or below that distance, then it can be very expensive.
So, if all you need is game monitoring to fully enjoy the games, a recommendation to look for a FreeSync Premium Certified Guarantee, because it is the technology that guarantees the best gaming experience thanks to the LFC (except they will be at least 120 Hz and the frequencies are usually very high). If you intend to play with HDR activated, your choice should be FreeSync Premium Pro, of course.
