If you started your gaming adventure in the 2000s, we are sure you have tried a DS. Many of the great sagas created by Nintendo have been presented on said console as exclusives. But which are the best?
Nintendo’s most legendary (and exclusive)
Our way of paying homage to such a beloved console is that we studied with our colleagues at Metacritic what are these five Nintendo DS exclusive video games that you must play no matter what, without excuses. That said, we start at the top.
5. New Super Mario Bros.
We can’t think of a better way to open this list than with a headline about the mustachioed plumber. This game was a return to the most classic character, with different worlds and lots of platforms. Although at the time it was exclusive to the Nintendo DS, it would later have a port for the reviled Wii U. It has a rating of 89 on Metacritic.
4. Advance Wars: Double Attack
Even if in the West this saga arouses no interest in us, in Japan it enjoys a certain reputation. It’s a perfect title for fans of a good story, with tons of turn-based action, like any good RPG should have. If everything we tell you has caught your attention, then give it a chance. It has a 90 on Metacritic.
3. The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass
We don’t think we’re exaggerating when we say that this has to be one of Link’s most underrated adventures. Clearly, in some sections, such as the graphics, it was well below the titles for home consoles of the time. However, that doesn’t take away from its 90 on Metacritic. For fans of the saga, it’s worth it.
2. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Story
Under the reign of the Nintendo DS, there has been an attempt to innovate a little on the classic Mario game formula for 35 years. In the case of the title that occupies this position, a gameplay that was more akin to a role-playing game was chosen. This combination has received excellent reviews, with a score of 90 out of 100 on Metacritic.
1. Mario Kart DS
Did you really think we were going to leave without mentioning a Mario Kart? For gamers of two miles, this game is one of, if not the best, of all in the series. Some of its circuits have achieved legendary status, not to mention its superb soundtrack. It’s the best Nintendo DS exclusive, with an impressive 91 on Metacritic.
And you? What is your favorite Nintendo DS exclusive?
