The price of NAND memory will increase by 40% by 2020

increase, memory, NAND, price

Every time we start a new year, it seems that the news of rising commodity prices remains controversial. In this case it was an opportunity for established products NAND Flash memory, as a solid-state device (SSD), and as mentioned in the report, will not go up directly, since a 40% price increase means that, for example, an SSD of 100 Euros will cost 140 euros.

Reasons for the NAND price increase

According to a source, several manufacturers are reporting on the situation, including SK Hynix, Micron and Samsung, the top three. The reason is not the only problem at Samsung's factory that happened on the last 31st day (though it will have to too), but it seems everyone has problems in their production line of lack of raw materials. In other words, even though their production capacity is at their full potential, but with unstructured construction materials, they cannot.

And of course, if they can't meet the expectations of the level of production they had, they will fall into a category called "product scarcity", and they will think that prices will go up, sell less, and earn the same. And, as always, who will pay for this situation (literally) will be buyers, since we will see the price of products go up, In this case those are based on the NAND memory.

The situation is curious, because six months ago the news came production of this type of chips has been shot in China, it should have been thought that we would see the products go down as the price would. And what's the point, now it turns out that we are right in a conflicting situation, which means that many say it is a strategy for top companies not to lower prices (remember: the idea is to sell less but gain the same or more).

Finally, we have to remember the fact that all the major manufacturers (Samsung, SK Hynix, Toshiba (WD), Micron (Intel) and even Chinese YMTC) are planning to start marketing Flash 128-layer NAND Flash memory just this year.

So we will see how this phenomenon is said to affect the market. Currently the price of the SSD remains as it has so far, so if the forecast is to cause a 40% increase, then it would be a good time to buy the SSD right now if we expect we will need it within a year
