the saga lives again in the least expected place

Star Wars Jedi Survivor It will be the umpteenth game based on the franchise created by George Lucas 46 years ago now and it would seem that, finally, Officials find light after years of darkness when it comes to telling us believable adventures around characters who have marked generations around the world. But also, this resurrection came from the hand of someone that no one was expecting.

Hard times for the rebellion

Although now everyone thinks the future of star wars in video games it is well targeted thanks to several projects scattered by different studios –Ubisoft, Quantic Dream, etc.– which seem spectacular, in reality this resurgence of titles based on the galactic franchise has arrived thanks to a success that no one expected from the least indicated actor of all: Electronic Arts.

It is the Americans who – it must be admitted – had the good sense to trust the geniuses of Respawn Entertainment to get to work. Jedi Fallen Order and they turned what seemed like another title, without substance, into one much deeper and able to start a new plot within a period as chaotic as that between the end of episode III and the beginning of episode IV, that of The galaxy war original.

And why do we say no one expected Electronic Arts to become the savior of star wars as a single-player video game franchise, with a story-driven campaign and plot? Because the bottom does not look good.

No games just with the campaign

Electronic Arts is the company that signed the screenwriter of the UnexploredAmy Hennig, for developing a project that looked great the way it was star wars 1313What was presented with great fanfare at E3 in Los Angeles and that overnight he stopped making headlines and later, much later, they already told us that they weren’t going to continue with him. They canceled it. And which showed a Boba Fett in top form, before the attack perpetrated by Disney + in the form of a series which reduced him to the height of bitumen.

The worst of this cancellation of star wars 1313 is that he wanted to explain himself in the worst way imaginable, Electronic Arts arguing that it wasn’t worth developing games anymore single player, campaign only and somehow not having a cohesive multiplayer mode. In this way, it seemed that they were erased from a market as prolific and full of millions of sales each year as, for example, Sony’s exclusives are: Unexplored, Horizon, God of the war, Spider Man and a long list of cases that have wronged EA.

Fortunately, it seems that they have changed their minds and, above all, they gave the project to Respawn Entertainmentthe parents of Titanfall who seem to know the potential of these single player which drive sales. AND Star Wars Jedi Survivor, which will go on sale on April 28, will be another of those that mark the path of the franchise in the world of video games, once again leaving Electronic Arts in a bad patch. Or no more?
