PC components have seen significant price increases as some companies have suffered losses due to being unable to sell their items, resulting in a higher payout for the average buyer. This is for example the case of SSDalthough we are currently seeing that the storage market is starting to recover, which implies that after a while we may see a drop in prices.
The ace Solid State Drives have had a big problem in recent years, which is that the companies that develop them were not reporting profits due to weakening consumer demand and changes in inventory levels. This is the main reason why we have seen the prices of any storage unit skyrocket, making it extremely expensive to acquire in many cases.
SSD drives more expensive than before
During the first quarter of this year, we saw a price change of units SSD rising, meaning many of these storage solutions have had to see their retail prices increase so that businesses can avoid losses. In recent years, the financial years of manufacturers in this area have not been very good, which indicates that they have had a lot of problems in recovering the money invested in the production of these components.
In the case of some companies like Western Digital and Kioxia, profits are starting to flourish, as they gradually return to profitability thanks to sales, and their inventory utilization reaches 90%. This would directly imply that in the future, when there is greater growth in NAND memory usage, partly caused by AI, as well as the duty cycle of the average buyer, these units could see their price drop again once, but for that you will have to wait a little.
And they’ve just started reporting profits, and they already have some issues related to this type of memory, since the price of NAND is expected to increase between 10% and 15% next quarter. This could obviously make the price of the products even higher. SSDwhich is bad for both businesses and buyers, because ultimately there will always be fewer people able to purchase a product at an excessively high price.
When will the prices of storage boxes drop?
As we explained previously, it is difficult to define when we will see a drop in unit prices. SSD
At the moment the forecasts for this year are quite bad, because if we continue as now it is possible that by the end of 2024 the units SSD have gone up to 55% more than what they cost just a few months ago. We will therefore have to wait until everything is regulated by 2025 to be able to once again see a drop in the prices of these units. SSDsince this year in general, it looks complicated.
