¿Quién sale en The unbearable weight of massive talent?
Logically, The unbearable weight of massive talent stars Nicolas Cage, who plays a fictionalized version of himself. He also puts himself in the shoes of another imaginary version of a younger Cage.
A big weight in the film is also carried by Pedro Pascal as Javi Gutierrez, a multi-millionaire admirer of Cage who will pay him to come to his birthday party. Paco León, meanwhile, plays Lucas, Javi’s cousin.
Rounding out the cast are Sharon Horgan, as Cage’s ex-wife Olivia Henson; Tiffany Haddish and Ike Barinholtz as Vivian and Martin, CIA agents and married couple; and Neil Patrick Harris as Cage’s agent.
What is The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talents about? What was the controversy?
Nicolas Cage (the fictional version) is a cash-strapped actor forced to accept the offer of Javi Gutierrez, an eccentric billionaire Cage fan who is willing to pay him a million dollars to come to his birthday party.
The story takes an unexpected turn when a CIA agent contacts Cage to recruit him. He has to agree if he wants to save his loved ones, but he doesn’t rely on anyone to tell Javi of his intentions.
And where is the controversy?
At several points in the original film, reference is made to Catalonia, notably in the subplot of the kidnapping of Maria Delgado, the Catalan president’s daughter. In the version to be aired in Europe, this is believed to have been changed by the kidnapping of the Mexican President’s daughter.
You will have to see it to verify it.
