One of the biggest problems we can encounter when using a laptop is having to decide how to position a second monitor if we need one, since we should either get a portable device like this or leave the computer behind in a fixed location. That’s why this portable has caught our attention and offers us two screens with a different design from the others we have seen, positioning them on top of each other.
The biggest innovations presented at CES showed us the prototype of a dual-screen laptop, which incorporated them next to each other and used a high-quality hinge to be able to join them, but it could be a little uncomfortable when unfolding it bec ause it took up quite a bit of space. To avoid this problem, GPD opted for a different way of positioning the second screen, instead of deploying it to the side, it does it upwards.
Double the quality, integrating two OLED screens
Many laptops usually offer a series of components much better than what we expect, and it is common to see some that integrate high-quality screens, with a fairly high resolution and a refresh rate that is not far behind. In this case, the portable GPD DUO offers two of these three specifications and includes two OLED touchscreens 13.3 inches, each of which has a resolution of 2880×1800 but only has a refresh rate of 60Hz.
The shape of this computer is extremely innovative, since the secondary screen folds outwards, this implies that we can use said screen when the laptop is folded, essentially as if it were a 2-in-1 computer or a tablet, but without having to. The rest of the specs aren’t up to par
At first we might think that this innovative system is the only thing it includes, but it would make no sense to put a dual OLED screen of such a resolution if the rest of the specifications are not up to par, so as we can imagine, it is also quite powerful. And starting with the processor that it includes, we have a AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Processor
If we need storage, there is no problem, and it integrates three slots to install multiple M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs with a capacity of up to 4 TB, which would leave us with a laptop that not only offers innovative and high-quality screens, but with a high-power computer that we can take anywhere.
The only two specifications that we do not know are the weight and the price (which we will know in August), but knowing the specifications that it has, it is very likely that it will not be a computer that goes below $ 1,500, while the weight would be more difficult to know, since it is a “thin” model, but it includes two screens, so we do not really know how much it could weigh.
