You won’t know much about Xiaomi, since the cheapest range of mobiles appeared as an experiment by Xiaomi: they wanted to test how a sub-brand focused on a younger audience could settle in the market. Without having great expectations, Poco became a success, to the point that in November 2020 it separated from Xiaomi to operate as a brand in its own right.
So every year since then, we expect new Poco models to fulfill what Poco has always known how to cover: making cheap mobiles, with good specifications at the same time.
In this MWC (Mobile World Congress) of 2022, Poco surprised us with two new phones to expand its collection: the Poco X4 Pro 5G and the little brother, the Poco M4 Pro.
Both models will be available in early March, for prices still below $350. Below we show you the main features of these two new Poco phones.
Price and availability
To start with the most practical and the most important for many, especially if you opt for Poco mobiles, it will be the price:
- Poco X4 Pro 5G 128 GB: $299
- Poco X4 Pro 5G 256 GB: $349
- Poco M4 Pro 128 GB: $219
- Poco M4 Pro 256 GB: $269
The Pro model will be available from March 7, 2022, while the cheaper model, the Poco M4 Pro, will be available from March 2, 2022.

Poco X4 Pro 5G: The thinnest mobile in the X range
The Poco X4 Pro 5G is a mobile that stands out: original, young and striking, it continues to respect its characteristic aesthetic of choosing bright colors although, in this case, we find a black model for the most classic. In addition to black, you can opt for a rather bright yellow or blue.
A very strong point of this new Poco is undoubtedly its screen: the first time that a Poco has integrated an AMOLED screen. We’re up against a 6.67-inch panel, Full HD+, 700 nits, 360HZ touch response rate, and an amazing 120Hz refresh rate, all of these specs make the screen great, especially since we are faced with a mobile that costs, in its cheapest version , 299 $.
Few things were said clearly in its presentation: such a good screen must be matched with its cameras in order to get the most out of it. For this reason, Poco has also made an effort to come up with a pretty powerful camera setup.
It comes back with its 108MP lens, 8MP wide angle and 2MP macro. It promises to be a camera capable of capturing a lot of detail thanks, above all, to the size of the sensor. Obviously, this all sounds good on paper too, we’ll have to put it to the test when we test the mobile. In the selfie camera we find 16 MP.
The mobile comes to life thanks to a Snapdragon 695 processor, with 6nm and 5G technology (which you would have already guessed from the name of the device). 5G is starting to become a staple in mid-2022, so we’re glad to know that Poco has incorporated it into its new models. It’s not the latest model of processors, but it’s still a very capable processor, with good performance.
This model also stands out for its 5000 mAh battery (until we ask it, we can’t talk about its real life), and its 67W fast charge.
Poco claimed that in just 8 minutes you will charge 30%, in 22 minutes 70, in 31 minutes 90 and 100% charge would be reached in just 40 minutes, which sounds pretty amazing.
As you might have imagined, you will find the MIUI 13 operating system for Poco, which is basically the same as used by Xiaomi.

Poco M4 Pro: the little brother lighter than ever
The Poco M4 Pro is the most affordable version of this new range and obviously to be able to offer a lower price you will have to make some sacrifices. However, in summary, the mobile seems capable of performing daily tasks and offering good performance despite being quite far from the top of the range.
Technically, it has an AMOLED screen, which is good news. However, the refresh rate is a little worse than that of its big brother: 90 Hz against the 120 of the X4 (which is not surprising given its price).
Little says it’s a display that can continue to deliver quality even in bright environments, such as outdoors, which is something we’re personally dying to see.
As for the cameras, the M4 Pro has a 64 MP main lens, an 8 MP wide-angle and a 2 MP macro camera. The front camera in this case is like that of the X4 Pro, 16 MP. In fact, the main difference in the camera setup of the two models is based on the 108 MP lens which the M4 lacks.
The battery is the same: 5000 mAh, which is surely the minimum we expect today from a mobile battery to offer adequate autonomy. It also has fast charging, but 33W.
The processor in this case is a MediaTek Helio G96, a fairly capable mid-range processor that surely performs the most essential functions correctly.
